General Description
The Shipping/Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Shipping Department team members to ensure the dependable delivery of Tubelite products to and from customers and vendors.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Perform daily load analysis to determine sequence of deliveries and number of trucks required for efficient delivery of outbound shipments. Recommend lane optimization and DFG route changes in preparation for annual route reviews.
  • Provide analysis for bidding and tracking of new and existing routes.
  • Perform DFG model route updates and route changes due to the addition of new clients.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing teams on client routing requirements.
  • Perform route reviews to determine improvement opportunities.
  • Track carrier performance and recommend improvements.
  • Create and review shipping paperwork to ensure accuracy.
  • Review daily routes to updated transportation modes as necessary (LTL, DFG, UPS, etc.)
  • Communicate with customers regarding timing of expected shipments.
  • Ensure that month end tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Train Shipping Assistants, and provide backup as needed.
  • Perform load audits and record metrics to track and improve loading efficiencies.
  • Track and report metrics for daily Shipping Tier 1 Meeting.
  • Supervise the day-to-day functions of the logistics crew in Walker, Mesquite, and Reed City by ensuring work is getting completed and is accurate, coaching as necessary, overseeing Kronos transactions for the department, and approving over time and vacations as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Logistics Manager.
