Shipping Clerk

Purpose

To prepare shipments for delivery or receive shipments and place into inventory.

Safety

· Comply with safety rules as outlined in Lake Air’s Safety Manual and follow all safety policies, procedures, rules and work methods.

· Promptly reports injuries for timely diagnoses and medical treatment

· Make practical safety suggestions so support continuous improvement in safety.

· Manage the financial, human resources and customer service objectives of the company.

Responsibilities

For Class C

· Packs product or parts into shipping cartons as described on order forms/instruction sheets.

· Uses packaging materials as necessary to prevent breakage or damage.

· Closes, seals and accurately labels cartons for shipping.

· Enters necessary data into M1.

· Will check incoming packages for damage and count.

· Comply with the requirements of the ISO Quality Management System and departmental procedures, and work-instructions.

· Performs other work related items as needed.

For Class B

· Post weight and shipping charges.

· Receives all incoming materials and prepares products and other materials for shipment using freight bills.

· Operates a forklift.

· Writes up or checks necessary paperwork in connection with shipments to ensure proper shipment.

For Class A

· Back up for Shipping Manager

· Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

· Verifies records and packing slips on incoming and outgoing shipments, and overseeing preparing items for shipment.

· Creates PO for outside services; receives product, partners with vendors and purchasing for hot jobs.

· Performs manufacturing receipts, works to repair material errors. Any extreme situations are discussed with the appropriate management.

· Enters data in M1.

Knowledge of

· Reading, comprehension, problem-solving and math skills normally associated with completion of the 12th grade in school

· Knowledge and ability to use all needed equipment and supplies

· Identifying quality of non-conforming products

· Manufacturing environment and how product flows

Skills in

· Reading and following written procedures

· Excellent organizational abilities

· Forklift operation for standup and sit down equipment

· Reading blueprints

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· 1 year forklift experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment

· Basic computer knowledge

· Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team

· Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission

· Flexible and able to multi-task; can work with an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems

· Bend and lift, loading and unloading work pieces into the machine, and move from one work station to another, alternately sitting and standing

· Lift objects up to 50 pounds throughout the day

· Read fine print and distinguish colors

· Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $20.00 per hour
