The
Shuttle Driver is responsible for providing timely, courteous and safe transportation of all passengers using the Institute’s vans and/or buses. This staff member will also transport mail and occasionally carry and deliver cargo. This staff member will also provide Patient Transportation from our Facility to local Medical appointments.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Institute vans and buses in a courteous manner while making regular scheduled trips, transporting personnel and mail/cargo between various Kennedy Krieger Institute facilities. Be aware of surroundings while driving and follow all appropriate traffic laws and regulations.
- Provide a high quality level of customer service by maintaining a pleasant, professional and friendly demeanor with all guests and co-workers alike.
- Follow shuttle schedule and pre-determine route to ensure passengers receive timely and reliable transportation to and from destinations.
- Make special trips to various Kennedy Krieger Institute facilities and/or locations to include patient transports, picks up, delivery of supplies and/or personnel as required.
- Routinely performs basic mechanical inspections for assigned vehicle to include checking various fluid levels such as oil, coolant and brake fluid levels. Regularly tests the performance of vehicle accessories, such as lights, horn and windshield wipers.
- Provide Transportation Services for Inpatient Clients to and from Medical appointments, while adhering to all Safety Guidelines.
- Promptly and Clearly assist Patient and Patient Families with registration upon their initial arrival at the Institute.
- Maintain the Vehicle Use and Maintenance Log and schedule required special or emergency service with supervisor approval.
- Report all accidents and/or incidents involving the vehicle, pedestrians, other personnel, mail/other cargo immediately. Complete all Institute reports/police reports, as may be required.
- Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicles clean to include dirt and snow removal.
- Attend all necessary department meeting and training sessions as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Must provide a driving record.
Computer knowledge, how to navigate basic computer function during the registration process.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous relevant experience preferred.
Previous experience on how to properly secure a wheelchair or stretcher is a plus.
