Tantara Corporation is seeking a Site Superintendent / Safety Officer to assist in the implementation of construction contracts for Department of Defense clients throughout New England.

Tantara Corporation is looking for a qualified Site Superintendent / Safety Officer to provide:

• Daily on-site supervision of subcontractors.
• Mid- to large-scale construction oversight.
• Contractor production, schedule and performance monitoring.
• Project compliance to contract document specifications, client requirements, and to local, state and federal building codes.
• Assist the Project Manager with project submittals and project execution.
• Maintain a safe construction site through direction and training of workers, providing PPE and safety equipment and written documentation to maintain accountability of sub-contractor work force.
• Provide full-time support in the field, on the construction projects, to assure operations are planned and conducted in a safe manner.
• Preparation of cost estimates.
• Compliance with all guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Initiate problem solving and repairs on any required work-related equipment in a timely manner.
• Conduct safety audits.
• Communicate daily status of current projects to Project Manager to ensure all projects are timely and within Tantara standards.
• Report and address all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly.

The ideal candidate for this position is able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, have a minimum of five years’ experience in the construction industry, OSHA 30 Certification and First Aid/ CPR certificates. Additional certifications considered a plus are: Contractor Supervisor, Contractors Quality Control Certification issued by either NAVFAC or USACE, and 40-hour Asbestos Abatement and HAZWOPER training.

Prior experience working on federal military construction contracts for the US Navy, US Army Corps or US Coast Guard would be received well. Excellent organizational and time management skills required. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe is also desirable. This position requires a stable, reliable, self-motivated leader who is ready to be challenged in a busy environment and can communicate well, as you will be working directly with government personnel at the work sites. A driver’s license is required.

As Site Superintendent, you will coordinate and oversee onsite field work performed by subcontractors to ensure that the schedule is adhered to. You will plan onsite work to ensure that materials and personnel are in place at the correct time and performing the correct work. You will prepare daily reports, submittals, and other project documents. As the Site Safety Officer, you will ensure that the work is conducted in a safe manner, and in compliance with OSHA and EM385-1-1 requirements.

The US Department of Defense requires a background check to gain access to project sites located on military bases. Above all, this position requires a team player with a great attitude and work ethic with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
