Overview

J.McLaughlin is looking for a Social Media Manager to strengthen and support the brand’s presence across all social channels and with target media. The position reports to Director of Social Media and Content and works closely with the Retail Marketing, ECommerce, Merchandising, Creative teams and external agencies to translate the brand’s identity into original and compelling social and content initiatives.

Manage strategy for and oversee execution and optimization of social marketing programs that grow engagement, awareness, drive business and increase loyalty among existing and new J.McLaughlin customers. J.McLaughlin is looking for a creative, ambitious, and detailed-oriented Manager to join the Marketing team. This role will combine innovative thinking with the day-to-day coordination and execution of J.McLaughlin’s integrated marketing plans with a primary focus on social media planning, ideation, and relationships. This role will require development and execution of the brand strategy across all social platforms delivering optimization strategies to drive performance.

The ideal candidate will support in ideation and seamless implementation of strategies that grow the J.McLaughlin brand in the hearts and minds of our community— by driving brand reach, awareness, relevance, and engagement across the social media channels. This person is social media obsessed and immersed in the industry, following and pivoting based on emerging trends across all platforms. This person will be responsible for developing ideas, strategic plans, the social calendar, posting as well as engaging on all social channels and daily communication with influencers. This candidate is a creative thinker with a passion for capturing content including behind the scenes, images and short videos for use across all social platforms.

This person has excellent communication skills and the ability to foster close relationships with cross-functional partners and executive team. This role will require working closely with the Senior VP of Marketing, creative and visual teams, outside agencies and retail partners to support retail marketing, events & experiential, social, influencers, partnerships, performance marketing, e-commerce and more. The social media and marketing team is pivotal in expanding the company’s vision, culture, and brand to the current on new clients. While creativity is key, we also leverage metrics and data to inform our next steps, learning daily from what performs and where to pivot.

The ideal candidate is tapped into fashion and culture with a strong vision on what delivers fresh influencer content social growth. This person will act as a brand ambassador and attend industry or appropriate store and corporate events in key markets delivering fresh social content ideas and innovative thinking.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement social media strategies to increase brand awareness, audience, and customer engagement
  • Build and maintain all social media communities. Manage a tiered influencer strategy to support brand growth. Expand brand’s presence by executing digital word-of-mouth programs and strategic influencer partnerships
  • Accountable for designing and implementing marketing process for all initiatives- bringing the right meetings, deliverables, and people together with the right responsibilities to reach desired goals
  • Project Management and communication on all initiatives across key stakeholders: Drive alignment to workflows and timelines with Merchandising, Buying, Ecomm, Retail & creative teams
  • Manage communication, contracts, sample tracking and reporting with influencer and paid social agencies including Weekly Data Analysis, Budget Management & Reporting
  • Maintain a unique, brand-right voice and aesthetic that considers the differing roles of each social media channel
  • Lead new customer acquisition projects and launches of new social tools or opportunities
  • Help plan monthly and quarterly social media & pr calendar to promote products, events, and brand initiatives
  • Responsible for assisting in seasonal hind sighting of recent campaigns working key learnings and prepping recaps for the executive teams that are concise and driven by high level analysis.
  • Budget maintenance and quarterly analysis
  • Mentor and manage junior staff; educate and communicate with the senior executive team.
  • Collaborate with creative team (photographers, copywriters, graphic designers, editorial) on social media content
  • Track and measure reach and impact of social media channels by establishing metrics and goals, benchmarking against competitors, and presenting insights on weekly and monthly basis
  • Agency coordination
  • Stay informed and on the constantly changing landscape of pr & social media, spotting industry trends, best practices, emerging technologies, and risks
  • Oversee and manage operational logistics and executional details related to larger programs

Qualification & Skills

  • B.A. in Communications or relevant Liberal Arts field
  • 5+ years in Social Media Experience
  • Existing influencer network across various fashion and cultural
  • Strong Understanding with all social platforms and their content requirements
  • Effective budget management skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of influencer data, benchmarks, and success metrics and strong analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to carry out detailed tasks and projects with minimal direction or supervision
  • Background in luxury retail and consumer brands
  • Ability to develop, plan and execute work on multiple tasks in an organized fashion.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and offers creative ideas and opinions.
  • Flexible and can handle shifts in priorities.
  • Ability to creatively problem solve independently and in a group.
  • Collaborative team player and enthusiastic approach to all tasks.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills & the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization from external vendors to senior leadership
  • Strong working knowledge of google analytics, google ads, Microsoft office, Google drive digital media, Slack,
