GLIDE is searching for an experienced, inclusive Social Media & Digital Content Specialist to join the Director of Marketing and Communications in building a high performing GLIDE team. They will be joining an authentic, committed group of staff who are transforming the lives of the most vulnerable.

SUMMARY:

The Social Media & Digital Content Specialist works with the Communications team to manage and grow GLIDE’s social media channels; and to support storytelling and other digital content development for dissemination digital platforms and supports the maintenance and development of GLIDE’s website. The Social Media & Digital Content Specialist ensures the timely delivery of content online, assists in the development of social media messaging and strategy, and research trends to help build awareness of GLIDE’s work and mission to increase engagement by supporters, community members and the broader public. The position includes responsibility for a variety of communications tasks vital to the agency’s mission, including but not limited to, the annual financial goals of the Fund Development department and the overarching strategic goals set by GLIDE’s executive leadership. The position occasionally requires overtime or flex hours during the week and evening and/or weekend.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Social Media: 40%

  • Create and manage appropriate content (including text, video, photos and news) for GLIDE’s social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Develop quarterly goals for social media engagement and growth for each channel. Work with the Communications team on the evolution of social media strategy.
  • Regularly leverage social media to support GLIDE programs, GLIDE’s advocacy efforts, GLIDE Church, and Fund Development campaigns and community organization partners.
  • Liaise with staff, leadership, clients, community members and digital marketing consultants to clarify GLIDE programs and initiatives, as well as advocacy efforts to help lift up community voices.
  • Report, analyze and draw regular insight from social media data and analytics and report to applicable stakeholders.
  • Research relevant media tools and conduct analyses to further the precision, effectiveness and scope of GLIDE’s outreach.
  • Provide reports and analysis to draw insights from social media data and analytics to show where to improve outreach.
  • Create social campaigns, develops and monitors metrics and quarterly goals for social media engagement and growth in partnership with Marketing & Communications leadership, Fund Development and Digital Marketing consultants.
  • Support Fund Development events and campaigns through social media, writing and editing content as needed, and providing on-site support.
  • Leverage GLIDE’s social media channels to liaise with peer organizations, network and build recognition of GLIDE and its mission with other organizations, activists and media outlets.
  • Respond to inquiries and actively engage followers and influencers.
  • Real-time social media coverage of GLIDE’s major virtual and in-person events throughout the calendar year, including Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media technologies and tools, as well as suggest and implement new features.
  • Make regular presentations on metrics, analysis of relevant KPIs and recommendations on how to continue growing social channels.

Website & systems support: 30%

  • Ensure content on GLIDE’s website is consistent with branding and user friendly.
  • Produce and manage the content on GLIDE’s website (internet and Intranet) ensuring content is up to date and employs SEO best practices.
  • Support team to manage a large and ever-growing collection of digital assets in GLIDE’s digital asset management system. Assists in the curating and management of content on GLIDE external facing website.
  • Assist in photography, video and other asset development as needed in promoting programs and events.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the Communication Department.

Storytelling: 30%

  • Conduct regular interviews with program staff and program participants; transcribe, edit and frame these for various communications and fundraising purposes, including direct mail campaigns, email appeals, social media posts, blog posts, and digital and print newsletters.
  • Produce, edit, and film video content highlighting the work of GLIDE and other initiatives, including collaborative policy and advocacy videos with partner elected officials and community organizations, videos of event coverage, video storytelling, including, but not limited to pre-production planning, interviewing, editing, capturing roll, and post-production.
  • Maintain GLIDE’s blog in coordination with the Communications Director including participation in the development of story ideas, production of content, and the maintenance of editorial standards and an editorial calendar.
  • Work with the Communications Team on development and contributing digital content (photos, videos, text) of the bi-annual Real Talk newsletter and Impact Report.
  • Work with the Communications and Media Relations Manager on an as-needed basis for media training, media coordination, and producing video content for use by news media outlets.
  • Maintain the GLIDE brand and voice, ensuring consistency across all communications channels, including social media platforms, website, blog and newsletter. Draft and publish meaningful content that engages GLIDE’s diverse audiences.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BA degree and 3+ years’ social media and relevant experience preferred, ideally in a nonprofit environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of online publishing platforms, especially WordPress, procedures, and basic HTML.
  • Strong writing and editing skills and familiarity with the major style manuals.
  • Knowledge of administrative systems and procedures such as word processing, managing files and records.
  • Basic graphic design skills and ability to create branded media collateral (photos, videos) desired.
  • Experience in producing, analyzing and interpreting information and data.
  • Experience in maintaining/improving donation processing and data management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to speak and write clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to reduce large amounts of information/data to concise points.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Fluency in dominant social media platforms, especially: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube.
  • Knowledge of social media management platforms; Sprout Social a plus.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Basic graphic design skills desired (familiar with Photoshop or online design platforms such as Canva, PicMonkey, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Salesforce for Nonprofits a plus.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams a plus.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress; familiarity with Elementor is a plus.
  • Understanding of SEO strategies.
