Job Summary::


This is a new position aimed at more fully integrating the growing power and influence of social media into Southwest Key’s overall branding and strategic communications efforts. While Southwest Key has regularly used social media, the person in this position will work with the agency’s Chief Communications Officer to enlarge its social media programs and expand the use of social media for branding efforts and communicating with both internal and external stakeholders as well as recruiting. The individual selected for this position will work with the Chief Communications Officer to establish goals and objectives for social media as well as help develop a plan to achieve those benchmarks. Additionally, the individual who takes this position will be expected to suggest, recommend, and offer for consideration content ideas and options, including the use of video, animation, bi-lingual features, and efforts to make the agency’s social media platforms more engaging and relevant. The person also will have various writing assignments. #SWHQ


Essential Functions::
  • Assist the Chief Communications Officer in developing and implementing strategies to support and integrate brand messaging into various social media platforms, including the agency’s web site.
  • Work with the Chief Communications Officer to design and grow strategies to use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms to build and expand community engagement and help create understanding and support for Southwest Key’s mission and programs.
  • Assist the Chief Communications Officer in creating strategies and tactics to use paid social media efforts to engage and grow audience involvement and expand stakeholder understanding of the brand’s essence, goals, and mission.
  • Propose plans to measure, gauge and monitor effectiveness of both organic and paid social media efforts and suggest alternatives to maximize and adjust content accordingly.
  • Work with additional team members to integrate social media campaigns into agency-wide communications efforts.
  • Help Chief Communications Officer to conceive, develop, produce, implement, and measure content calendars for multiple social media platforms.
  • Work with other team members to integrate video, graphics, and charts into regular and special social media posts.
  • Work with Chief Communications Officer, PR staff, and Community Affairs team to develop integrated campaigns that produce complementary, multi-channel social media efforts that support various objectives.
  • Have working knowledge of third party social management software tools, especially, but not limited to Hootsuite and Sprout Social.
  • Work with Chief Communications Officer to Initiate multi-channel social media campaigns that lead to an increase of friends, followers, and fans and longer web site visits.
  • Prepare analytical and metric reports to measure click through rates and engagement.
  • Develop and analyze regular social media data reports and present findings.
  • Work with other team members to help ensure 7x24x365 coverage and monitoring of active social media channels.
  • Be skilled with various social media publishing platforms like Khoros, Sprinklr, TweetDeck and others.
Other Functions::
  • Be flexible and nimble and willing to adjust to the unexpected nature of social media.
  • Be capable of suggesting strategies and tactics for analyzing content and responding to crisis and emerging situations that often require a prompt social media response.
  • Work with Chief Communications Officer to provide strategic and aesthetic oversight in the selection of creative art, audio, video, and copy as needed.
  • Be engaged in learning more about other social media platforms such as Snapchat, TikTok, and others, including emerging opportunities.
  • Be comfortable using video software and graphic design programs and have a skill set that allows the successful candidate to suggest multiple options for adapting video and graphics on various social media platforms.
  • Be willing to take on additional, multi-channel writing assignments.
  • Can work independently and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
  • Committed to staying current on trends, social media options, new policies, best practices, and continuing education.
  • Can effectively work with and manage external consultants.
Qualifications and Requirements::
  • 5+ years of experience working in a social media strategy position; some experience in public affairs, crisis communication, political campaigns, and/or community outreach is a plus.
  • Must be a strong writer and be capable of performing under deadline.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills and an ability to take charge and lead a project team.
  • Background should include insight into public relations, advertising and marketing.
  • A track record in working with Google Ad Words, SEO, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Resonate, and Comscore will be viewed as beneficial.
  • Background and experience using listening platforms such as Muck Rack, Brandwatch, NetBase Quid or others is important.
  • Experience applying social media strategies to internal and external communications and marketing efforts.
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to perform under tight deadlines
  • Experience interfacing with or as an external consultant
  • Able to react professionally to unexpected changes and still be productive and capable of handling other essential tasks as necessary and assigned
  • Highly adaptable self-starter with proven persistence and resilience when faced with challenging tasks


Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in digital media, journalism, marketing, strategic communications, advertising strongly preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is advantageous, but not necessary.
