The Software Engineer I - Product Security ("Product Security Engineer") is a rising security engineer focused on helping Cox Automotive engineering teams build secure products and software. This candidate will join a stellar team of strong, self-motivated developers and engineers developing high-performance and highly available applications using proven frameworks and technologies.

The Product Security Software Engineer uses their software engineering background to create dev-first application security software capabilities. These applications are services that protect the Cox Automotive developer experience and make it easy for software engineers to do the right thing for application security.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Reporting to the Product Security Director, serves as a member of the Product Security Engineering team
  • Works with partner engineering teams to create applications and services that align to common capabilities
  • Develop high quality, readable, maintainable code using best software practices
  • Build monitoring systems for apps and services
  • Collaborate with product managers and other engineers to solve business problems
  • Participate in design discussions, as we create different solutions and software ecosystems
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Consistently exhibits a positive attitude and desire to help the team to succeed
  • Participate in On-call rotation with the team (once every 3-4 weeks)



Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree; preferably Computer Science major
  • 0-2 years software development experience
  • Knowledge of building software applications with .NET (Core or Framework), Java or Python
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL database technologies
  • Knowledge of web libraries and frameworks such as React, Angular, Typescript and Node.js
  • Understanding of OOP, SOLID design and REST principles



Desirable:


  • Familiarity with Agile development
  • Familiarity working with APIs and service-oriented capabilities
  • Understanding of containers, infrastructure-as-code, or security-as-code
  • Experience working in large/scaled agile environments
  • Understanding of automated deployments and release orchestration (CICD)
  • Understanding of Cloud Architecture
