Overview:
The Software Engineer I (Remote) position is responsible for analyzing incoming requests, overseeing the executing scripts, refreshing and updating product catalog environments and problem resolution under the general direction of a lead. The scope of work includes participating on product releases on a regular cadence, projects, and ad-hoc product adjustments. As an entry-level position, regular mentoring, feedback, and supervision are provided by more senior staff and management. Applications used in this role may include custom developed software or commercial packaged software. Software may consist of on-premise applications, cloud-based software and services, or business workflow tools.

This Software Engineer I will work with a team that includes 3 software engineers. General computer knowledge and understanding of scripts and processes is required for success in this role.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ states in which TDS operates.

The pay range listed for this position represents the low and high end of the base compensation range. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and equity awards.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops, tests, and fixes defects in application software from overall application designs prepared by senior staff under the general direction of a Senior Software Engineer or higher.
  • Designs application software at the module level under the general direction of a Senior Software Engineer or higher.
  • Creates work estimates (effort and duration) of work assignments for inclusion into project plans under the general direction of a Senior Software Engineer or higher.
  • Resolves routine technical problems with systems under the general direction of a Senior Software Engineer or higher.
  • Maintains working knowledge on the systems and tools within the scope of the team's responsibility. Maintains working-level knowledge of software development best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Actively participates in quality and continuous improvement initiatives within the scope of the team's responsibility.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree (or higher) -OR- 2+ years professional work experience.
Other Qualifications
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and tools.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, practices, and tools.
  • Knowledge of one more programming languages used by the team.
  • Knowledge of software testing practices and tools.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques and tools.
  • Ability to travel as needed for company business and professional development.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for system implementations and resolving system problems.
Benefits
Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others. Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates. Associates scheduled to work under twenty hours per week or for a limited term (i.e. interns) are eligible for medical coverage, the 401(k) plan (if 18 or older), as well as sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates). Pay Range: $50,200.00 - $81,500.00
