JOB OVERVIEW

Under the general supervision of the Solar Electric Design Engineer, the Solar Electric Design Engineer (SEDE) serves as a member of the Design and Engineering team assisting in system design duties and sales support. The SEDE will be instrumental in designing residential and commercial solar systems for pool heating, water heating, and PV. They will assist both the residential and the commercial divisions in design and engineering.
The goal of the SEDE is accurately design and review residential and commercial system designs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work is performed in an indoor office or meeting room setting and involves sitting, standing, and/or walking. Additional hours beyond an eight-hour workday or forty-hour workweek may be required. The SEDE is expected to work alone and work within a group.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

While performing the duties described below, the SEDE will be required to work alone, work within a team, or lead a team, utilizing a personal computer and appropriate company software such as Word processing, Excel, email and the Internet. Develop solutions and strategies to meet company interests. Serve as a resource in preparing and presenting conclusions and recommendations to the Company. The SEDE will perform the difficult, complex tasks as follows:
  • Assist in creating system permit design drawings
  • Work with Field Install Teams on Design issues and/or corrections
  • Implement best practices in terms of design and plan sets
  • Calling AHJs to resolve permit rejection issues and answering their electrical concerns
  • Commercial
    • Sizing and designing projects for optimal performance
    • Review Costing projects with up-to-date material pricing
    • Technical sales support
    • Permit package preparation
    • Work with local Building Departments and Utilities
    • Assisting with procurement of materials
    • Maintenance and Operation Manuals
  • Residential
    • Sizing and designing projects for optimal performance
    • Reviewing pre-site sheets provided by the sales team and installation leads
    • Permit package preparation
    • Technical sales support
    • Ability to create procedures and implement them in a timely manner
    • Keeping apprised of design and financial considerations and the general market with a goal of staying competitive and offering efficient options for our clients
