About the Position

Our solar install teams (3-4 people) install mostly residential & small commercial grid-tied solar throughout the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier.
The Solar Electrician is primarily responsible for the electrical connections between the solar photovoltaic (PV) system and the customer’s electrical service along with any upgrades to the customer’s electrical service. The Solar Electrician is expected to assist the install crews with system installations as needed. If the candidate has limited to no background in the solar industry but a strong resume in the electrical field, we are willing to train.
The Solar Electrician will ensure that all work installed is completed in accordance with the standards set forth by the Company, and in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

General Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Comfort working on ladders and on roof top surfaces
- Work in teaming arrangements
- Comfortable with ride sharing
- Travel required
General Job Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out electrical construction tasks in a team environment, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel
- Conduct quality control inspections on project sites
- Install electrical and solar PV systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics and instructions.
- Activate solar PV systems to verify systems functionality and conformity to performance expectations
- Apply weather sealing to array, building or support mechanisms
- Examine designs to determine current requirements for all parts of the solar PV systems
- Install required labels on solar PV system components and hardware
- Visually inspect and test solar PV modules or systems
- Be able to appropriately diagnose malfunctions in systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdown and take appropriate steps to correct the problem
- Regularly report project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials
- Lead by example—set, monitor, and enforce the standards of safety, and exemplary quality of work set forth by the Company
- Analyze and quickly resolve any work problems that may arise and ensures that all deficiencies on any given project are corrected in a timely manner

Qualification requirements:
- High School Diploma, Equivalent, or Vocational training in a closely related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a commercial construction setting
- Highly motivated, self starter who is meticulous and takes pride in your work
- Excellent teamwork skills- able to foster a positive team environment
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred Skills
- PV Installation experience
- Mechanically inclined
- Journeyman or Master Electrician
