Solar Installer/ Wiremen Job at ATX Solar

ATX Solar is looking for a full-time Electrician to join our installation department and grow with us. This is a unique chance to jump in on the ground floor. This is a dynamic position with unmatched potential and upward mobility as we grow.

Minimum 2 years solar installation experience.

The wiremen will oversee the electrical portions of the installation including wiring, grounding, interconnection, and inspections for rooftop and ground-mounted solar systems. This consists of running conduit (either surface-mounted or through attic-runs), as well as one or more junction boxes on the roof, as needed. You will be responsible for mounting / hanging inverters, combiner box, and final PV disconnecting means. You will determine the route for the final connection as well as perform the final interconnection. Secondary roles will include: Customer interactions, safety enforcement, being responsible for quality of all work performed, and overall customer satisfaction pertaining to workmanship. You can expect to direct work, ensure all mechanical specifications are followed for solar electric installations relating to array layouts, array racking and module installation, either roof or ground-mounted.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the installation of systems that interconnect solar arrays to the grid of our customers’ residential properties
  • Oversee and perform installation of racking, modules, inverters, combiner boxes, grounding, disconnects, and wall work.
  • Ensure work performed by all electricians is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local amendments
  • Review system and interconnection design for adherence to Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Troubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issues.
  • Work with the roof installation team and homeowners to fulfill any necessary system upgrades or repairs to support our solar equipment.
  • Attend electrical inspections as needed on behalf of the company
  • Help to ensure all necessary electrical materials and tools arrive to the job site
  • Assist with completion of installation reports and commissioning reports, as needed.
  • Perform system commissioning and function check
  • Transport solar installation materials from warehouse to job-sites
  • Installation of all BOS (Balance of System) and wall equipment
  • Ability to coordinate and complete Main Panel Upgrades and service upgrades
  • Commission and Provision Solar Installations
  • An understanding of NEC codes
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints / plan sets
  • Be able to create Stringing Maps
  • Ability to work in extreme environments (sun, cold, crawl spaces, attics)
  • Ability to work on rooftops, climb ladders and stairs
  • Capable of performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time
  • Basic computer & smart phone skills required
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to coordinate scheduling of installations, service work, and manage crew of 2-4 others

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Residential Wiremen license REQUIRED
  • Comprehensive understanding of the NEC as it relates to the installation of solar electric systems; Specifically: Articles 250, 690, 705
  • Competence in design of PV systems including electrical wire sizing, conduit sizing, installation methods, conduit bending, etc.
  • Ability to produce timely installations coupled with successful inspection results

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • OSHA 10 hour (preferred)
  • NABCEP certification (preferred)
