Job Summary:
We are looking for Teachers to join our Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program in San Antonio, TX for the **2022-2023** School year!

The certified special education teacher is responsible for developing and facilitating educational curricula and behavioral management programming within the classrooms. The certified special education teacher is also responsible for reviewing overall curriculum delivery ensuring innovative teaching methods. Additionally, the certified special education will oversee a full-time general education classroom.

Essential Functions:

• Oversee all services to students with special needs and oversee all students’ IEP's (Individual Education Plans).
• Provide daily educational programming that is in compliance with state standards.
• Ensure the behavior management program is implemented as required by contract and program guidelines.
• Coordinate the requisition and use of educational materials as needed.
• Practice classroom safety.
• Monitor equipment and inventory to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Provide specific educational and behavioral guidelines during all classroom activities.
• Submit educational and behavioral lessons in written format to Program Director in a timely manner.
• Follow procedures to accommodate clients with special needs.
• Regular and punctual attendance.

Other Functions:

• Follow a daily schedule and allow for routine or scheduled changes as necessary.
• Role model appropriate behaviors for all students.
• Maintain a professional and ethical relationship with staff, students, and outside entities.
• Assist in student supervision as needed.
• Assist in the supervision of the overall delivery of curriculum and ensure that lesson plans from non-certified instructional staff are developed with program standards in mind.
• Assist with classroom walk-throughs when necessary.
• Demonstrate the ability to be objective in providing structure for students.
• Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in content area.
• Bilingual competency and two years of experience within an educational setting (Preferred).
• Cleared background check form appropriate entity.
• Valid state special education teaching certification/license

Physical Demands: While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to bend, lift, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hand or hands. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Must be able to obtain Handle With Care Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification.

Work Environment: General office environment with moderate noise. This position is involves regular classroom movement and will require walking or standing for periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstations for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
