Position:* Curriculum Specialist, Sports & Recreation
General Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Director of Enrichment, the Sports & Recreation Specialist will plan, organize, develop and administer related programs and activities offered within our 30+ Clubs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research, develop, create sports & recreation programs and curriculum for youth ages 4-18. Revise and edit existing programs and curriculum.

This will include and not limited to:

  • Team Leagues: Soccer, Basketball, Flag Football, Baseball, Volleyball & others
  • Sports Clinics: Same as above plus tennis,
  • Open Rec: School Lunch time, Club Kids Choice rec
  • Workout & Conditioning: Running Club, Fitness Club, Get Fit Challenge, Yoga, Zumba
  • Sport Camps: Soccer, Basketball, Flag Football
  • Intermural Events: Olympics, Cross Country Meet
  • Implement Sports & Recreation programs & events daily at 30+ Club locations and in partner school districts.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships such as Local Recreation Departments, School Partners & others to support in related program delivery.
  • Work with Club Directors to identify Club Members interests and needs in Sports & Recreation areas.
  • Serve as a resource to staff to identify best practices around safe usage of technology and programs that meet 21st Century Sports & Recreation skills.
  • Be responsible for managing and maintaining inventory of all Sports and Recreation supplies and materials. Including supply orders & distribution for annual programs, creating, updating, and replenishing rotating program kits & tracking systems for Clubs as needed and recommend purchases.
  • Develop a written Annual Program Plan with tangible, measurable goals and create plans to meet those goals
  • Collaborate in the hiring and training of relevant staff, volunteers and contractors.
  • Create smooth registration process.
  • Develop marketing plan to ensure participation and goal is met.

  • Be a role model by always maintaining enthusiasm and a positive attitude with youth and within the Club community.
  • Teaching teamwork, respect and communication throughout all program area’s.
  • Commit to the daily Club schedule on a quarterly basis.
  • Convey warmth, caring & proper guidance in all interactions with Members focusing especially on developing social-emotional skills.
  • Ensure the safety of all Members at all times.
  • Organize and create a comfortable, clean, warm welcoming environment where Members can play and learn with a purpose.
  • Will be asked to support Clubs when needed.

Requirements: Education and/or Expertise:

  • Expertise in Sports & Recreation fields.
  • Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • A minimum of three years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization managing complex projects and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.

Other Skills:

  • Person will be of flawless integrity.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.

Computer & Equipment Skills: Microsoft Office
Requirements:

  • Mandatory negative TB test.
  • Must provide own vehicle, have a valid state driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Applicants must be able to successfully perform the essential physical functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
  • Requires ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, squat, pull/push, grasp up to 4-8 hours per day.

Hours: 32-40 Hours per week

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.50 per hour
