This position will perform fundamental analysis on both existing and potential fixed income investments. This role makes recommendations to portfolio manager(s) based on both credit analysis and relative value. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Excel and have strong communication skills. Success in this position will require maintaining knowledge on current events. Strong time management skills will be important. An ability to provide solutions to problems on your own will be important, but this position will also contribute to work in a group setting.

What you do

  • Analyze existing and potential investments in the high yield and investment grade markets.
  • Maintain research files on companies and industries within assigned coverage universe. Coverage may entail multiple industries. Approximately 80% of time will be spent on industry assignments.
  • Review earnings releases, SEC filings, company presentations, rating agency and third-party research reports.
  • Determine relative value and generate trade recommendations in accordance with investment guidelines and state statutes.
  • Maintain effective dialogue with portfolio managers, rating agencies, brokers, and sell-side analysts.
  • Provide trading, and trade processing support to portfolio management team.
  • Assist in performing special investment or reporting projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you bring

  • Bachelor level degree in a relevant field of study required.
  • 1-2 years investment analyst experience required.
  • Background in fixed income analysis preferred.
  • CFA Charter holder or Candidate (Level II or III) strongly desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Bloomberg Software, Python, R, and/or other programming languages desired.
