About You

The person we are looking for has a foundation in accounting and specifically manufacturing cost accounting. A person with strong detail orientation and an interest in understanding how our plants work. The ideal candidate is a team contributor who thrives while working in a professional, yet casual, work environment.

Position Snapshot

The Sr. Operational Accountant provides direct support to the Manager of Operational Accounting in the management of the cost accounting system and plant financial reporting to support plant, business unit and corporate management. To be successful in this role you will:

• Perform monthly close and provide financial reports to managers and plant personnel.
• Assist in the management of plant financial reporting and related analysis to support plant, business unit and corporate management.
• Manage preparation of annual departmental budgets and the quarterly forecasts, at the plant level.
• Develop and prepare supplemental weekly, month-end, quarterly, and annual reports for management.
• Assist in the management of standard cost system and related policies and procedures consistent with performance measurement objectives.
• Provide training and support on cost accounting and plant financial reporting.
• Coordinate costing-related systems and procedures with Information Systems staff.
• Travel to visit plant locations 5-10%.

Qualifications to be considered for the role:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration including extensive course work in accounting or finance.
• 5 - 7 years experience, including 3+ years cost accounting experience.
• Experience in cost accounting with a working knowledge of plant operations.
• Experience with automated accounting systems (preferably Oracle) and PC software (Excel and Access).
• An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
