This job requires the ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays. You must physically able to perform tasks that are necessary to ensure the safety of our visitors and conservation of the 72-acre park. In order to be an effective leader, the employee will be trained to become proficient in driving the underground tour boat and giving tours.

DUTIES:

Tour Guide Staff Supervisor:

Train Tour Guides

o Train guides to drive the boat and give tours

o Teach methods of successful interpretation and tour management

o Teach staff to provide educational programs

o Communicate the importance of customer service policies

o Convey importance of the LRC mission statement

Hiring and Training

o Schedule and interview prospective tour guides

o Schedule and conduct annual training for tour guides

Scheduling

o Produce the daily/weekly tour staff schedule

o Correspond with tour guides on scheduling issues and availability

Staff Communication

o Update tour staff on meeting schedules

o Provide timely information to tour staff on maintenance issues

o Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for staff and volunteers

Tour Guide Evaluations

o Conduct regular evaluations of tour staff to ensure quality content and safety compliance

Property Management

o On-Call duty for high-water in the cave

o Remove boards or boats from cave in case of flooding

o Assist with standard maintenance tasks

Requirements

o Highly organized and detail-oriented

o Supervisory experience (minimum 3 years) which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position

o Physical ability to perform required grounds keeping and equipment maintenance tasks

o Willingness to obtain certifications and training as may be required

o Valid driver’s license required

o 40 hours per week, year-round; with occasional overtime expected

o Alternating week-ends are required during peak summer season

o Punctuality is required
