Job Summary:
The Ornish Lifestyle Medicine Program (“Program”) Stress Management Specialist is a remote position, responsible for implementing the live, virtual Stress Management element of the Program and monitoring the response of each participant to the stress management intervention. Actively participates in the development of the Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) to ensure the quality and clinical effectiveness of the Program.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Virtually organizes, supervises, and delivers the stress management element of the 72-hour intervention according to Program guidelines and stress management protocol.
  • Virtually presents the Stress Management element of the 72-hour Program lecture series according to Program guidelines and stress management protocol.
  • Participates in the development of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan (ITP) for each participant.
  • Provides stress management consultation using interactive technologies to participants on an individual basis as needed.
  • Provides support in developing the skills necessary for integrating stress management practices into daily life.
  • Monitors stress management adherence for all participants and provides individualized guidance as needed.
  • Facilitates a high level of participant satisfaction.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and patient confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Provides educational in-service, as necessary.
  • Participates in the monitoring, documentation, and communication of the participant’s response to the interdisciplinary treatment plan throughout the Program.
  • Attends and participates in weekly team meetings/case conferences via telecommunication.
  • Attends and participates in Element Specialist working groups.
  • Assists in training and orientation of new team members, when needed.
Specific Skills/ Attributes:
  • Actively practices the postures, meditation, breathing techniques and Program lifestyle.
  • Experience or knowledge of medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular disease, working with the elderly or individuals with physical limitations/special needs, and/or the willingness to learn.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and knowledge of adult education and coaching principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with sensitivity to participant needs.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills focused on superior patient care.
  • Experienced with interoffice communication and patient care coordination.
  • Excellent computer skills, including use of electronic medical records, and secure telehealth platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through the National Yoga Alliance.
  • 500-hour Yoga Teacher Certification with a minimum of 3 years teaching experience or 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience or Yoga Therapist Certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Ornish Lifestyle Medicine Stress Management Specialist role preferred.
  • Experience leading stress management sessions via interactive technologies (e.g., Zoom or Microsoft Teams).
  • Training from a traditional yoga teacher-training program (i.e., Integral Yoga Institute, Ananda, Sivananda, Kripalu, American Yoga College or Himalayan Institute Centers), or other school with a Yoga Therapy focus or comparable training and teaching experience.
  • Training in breathing techniques, the science and practice of meditation, yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology, and thorough background in the physical postures of Hatha yoga
  • Access to an area conducive to stress management and virtual teaching environment.
