As an Engineering Supervisor, you will lead a small to medium team. You will help build a learning culture within the team and drive team engagement. You will ensure best practices for delivering quality minded software. You will help the team understand, filter, and prioritize new business opportunities. You will lead and support the team in developing an increased knowledge of methodologies and system knowledge. You will assist in performing the work as well as mentoring the team.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member.
  • Work collaboratively with PMO, Product, Stakeholders and Engineering team members to achieve objectives.
  • Maintain application backlog that clearly describes tasks. Keep the backlog clean.
  • Partner with infrastructure and other development team members to achieve great application performance.
  • Show insight; know your application design & data; provide alternative working solutions.
  • Analyses the risk and impact to the business, recommends changes.
  • Recognizes scope, timeline, and budget risks.
  • Apply team coding, documenting and testing standards and recommend process improvement.
  • Recognize upstream and downstream impacts; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Understand the business process your application supports.
  • Improve your application and team processes by identifying areas needing improvement and mentors team to resolve.
  • Decrease incidents and increase up-time of your application.
  • Monitors the health of the teams, recognizes and act on coaching opportunities to increase team health.

Competencies: The following items detail how you will be successful in this role.

  • Development: Develops solutions using standards and best practices of the applications language. Writes code that implements the design that is testable, extensible, efficient and maintainable.
  • Impact Analysis: Understand the rationale behind and how changes impact the enterprise and/or applications and across the technical ecosystem.
  • Solution Design: Ability to translate high level requirements to create and implement designs that meet the needs of the customer, are technically sound, maintainable and cost effective. Ability to identify missing or ambiguous requirements. Ability to design at both high and low levels of abstraction, understand complex requirements and translate into understandable solutions. Ability to accurately estimate based on requirements.
  • Technical Domain: Have an understanding of the technical domain, including the application architecture, design and data of the application they support and systems to which it interfaces.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Agile development processes and sprint capacity planning
  • 5 years of web and/or mobile development experience with technologies like Java, Spring, Angular JS, HTML, JavaScript, Flutter, PhoneGap/Cordova, REST
  • Experience proposing and reviewing designs and code as a team leader
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in leading project teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing technology enabled solutions
  • Experience in owning processes that define best practices for gathering requirements, designing and prototyping, User Acceptance Testing, and implementing multiple medium to large scale projects
  • Business Process Reengineering experience in Finance Industry
  • Basic knowledge of web technology

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Minimum of 3-year experience supporting a web application
  • Ability to write complex database queries (SQL / PLSQL) and study data patterns
  • Respond promptly and effectively to problems, projects, and tasks
  • Be organized, with ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple requests
  • Convey complex information in a timely and easily understood way to all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate insight; make recommendations as opportunities arise
  • Be self-driven, motivated to help, and able to perform with moderate supervision
  • Maintain customer focus; keep the customer’s and company’s best interest in mind
  • Work well with abstract concepts. Be analytical. Solve problems

Targeted Compensation: $122,240 - $156,196 base salary + an annual bonus plan

This position is not currently open to individuals who require sponsorship now or in the future to work legally for Credit Acceptance, such as H-1b/ H-4 or F-1 OPT visa holders.
