The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and approximately 10,600 employees who manage and maintain 325 developments that house over 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to over 200,000 additional families.

The Pest Control Department works on pest issues on grounds and for specialized programs at NYCHA. Reporting to the Administrator of Pest Control, the Supply Coordinator is responsible for organizing, tracking, standardizing, moving, and automating pest supplies across all five boroughs.

The responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Receive or conduct monthly pesticide inventory sheets for the approximating 140 exterminator shops.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendents and Supervisors of Exterminators to order missing supplies.
  • Work with Caretaker I staff to make sure exclusion supplies are maintained at levels needed for IPM work.
  • Work with vendors to remove expired pesticides.
  • Move bulk supplies as needed.
  • Ensure shops are in DEC compliance and are neatly kept.
  • Work with other departments to automate supply chain.
  • Keep records of supplies in Microsoft teams.
  • Additional supply related tasks.
  • May be pulled for special initiatives not related to supplies periodically.

SPECIAL NOTE: Effective August 16, 2021, all persons newly hired for employment by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) must provide proof of having received at least one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine prior to beginning their employment, except for those who obtain an exception due to medical or religious reasons through the reasonable accommodation process.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A valid certificate as a Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator for Industrial, Institutional, Structural and Rodent Control (7A) issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This certificate must be maintained for the duration of employment.

License Requirement
For appointment to certain positions, at the time of appointment eligible must possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

2. To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, two years of full-time satisfactory practical experience in the preparation and use of insecticides, rodenticides, baits, traps, and related chemicals/equipment for the extermination of insects, vermin and other pests and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in a supervisory capacity, for a total of four years of experience.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT(S):
A license for structural, 7F license for food processing and a Category 8 for larvacide.
