The Company is seeking a Surveyor for its Soledad Mountain Project (the “Project”) in Mojave. The surveyor is responsible for all aspects of surveying on the property.

The Surveyor must be a self-starter that will be totally involved in all aspects of the operation as these relate to surveying. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a start-up mining operation and contribute to the success of the operations.

This position reports to Senior Mine Engineering.

General:

  • Able to use GPS, total stations, theodolites and levels with facility and accuracy;
  • Must have excellent drafting skills and be proficient in use of the latest drafting tools such as AutoCAD;
  • Communicate and work closely with staff in the Services and Mining groups and
  • Be familiar with and comply with the Company’s safety and health policies.

Mine survey:

  • Responsible for all survey operations in and around the open pits:
    • Set out ore mark-ups as requested by the Geologist.
    • Pick up of end of month pit and leach pad advances and workings or any other pickup or feature as requested by the Engineers/Geologist.
    • Work closely with the drill/blast engineer to design and layout blast pattern.
    • Set out dig limits, berms, batter boards and other control features required for the mining operation on a daily basis;
    • Set out, maintain and verify control points.

Volume calculations:

  • Calculate volumes of materials moved and any volume(s) of stockpiles at the end of a month or at any time as requested by the Engineering and
  • Regularly report volumes as required.

As-built surveys:

  • Do as-built surveys around the site as necessary from time to time;
  • Maintain a library of plans of the site and site services, the open pits and other relevant or significant features;
  • Maintain a database of control points.

Control of excavations:

  • Be responsible for locating buried services around the site and issue Dig Permits.

Exploration:

  • Organize and maintain a database of exploration and infill drill hole information as required by the Geologist/Engineers.
  • Set out exploration and infill drill holes in the field as requested by the Engineer Supt. and
  • Set out or pick up any geological sampling points or features as requested by the Geologist/Engineers.

Continuous Improvement

  • The Company encourages continuous improvement by challenging work practices and encouraging employee participation in new concepts, especially as these apply to advances in all areas of survey technology.
Requirements:

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience as an open-pit or quarry surveyor.
  • A demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of surveying in an open pit environment;
  • A demonstrated meticulous approach to procedures, mark-ups in the field, and recording of data.
  • Sampling experience is a plus.
  • Experience with construction-related survey techniques is an asset.
  • Proficient in all verbal and written skills and
  • An ability to present information in a manner that is clear and understandable.
  • Driver’s license is required
  • High School diploma or GED
