Primary Responsibility and Duties

  • Provides strong direction, leadership and management for Nutrition Services and the Home

Delivered Meal Program, Distribution Department and Client Engagement Services, including efficient, quality service delivery, superior customer service, contract management, and the implementation and management of technology applications.

  • Takes overall responsibility for the overall management of the distribution, nutrition services and client engagement departments including hiring, scheduling, performance appraisals,

discipline, and terminations in collaboration with the Executive Director and Vice President,
Human Resources.

  • Provides oversight of the day-to-day operations ensuring practices are conducted in a manner that meets standards, in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Meals on

Wheels of Central Maryland (MOWCM) and ensures safety and quality standards.

  • Acts as key contact and relationship manager for food services and health contracts, including the kitchen management contract, congregate sites, day care centers, and fleet management, ensuring quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Plans and coordinates the maintenance of the facility, including the kitchen equipment, and distribution fleet, identifies the need for repairs and replacement and approves pricing and ordering in keeping with allocated budget.
  • Develops strategic goals and outcomes measurements for the department and works with the

Executive Director, Board of Directors, and management team to ensure that strategic planning objectives and other organizational goals are met.

  • Provides fiscal oversight for the nutrition services and home delivered meals, distribution, and client engagement departments; assists with developing an annual budget and monitors adherence to budget including technology needs. Monitors and controls monthly income statements, identifies potential issues and identifies solutions.
  • Creates and implements reports to measure quality service and customer satisfaction, evaluates data and implements strategies to further improve quality and expand efforts as indicated.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent strategic organizational and planning skills with outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
  • High technology competency;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team as well as lead a team;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; and
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and credit check.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or food service area, master’s preferred;
  • Eight (8) years professional experience, and proven success in operations in a food service or manufacturing organization with five (5) years in administrative, supervisory, or management capacity;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point programs;
  • Ability to vision and think strategically while implementing and executing tactically;
  • Demonstrated proficiency using technology for routing, scheduling and reporting;
  • Experience with fiscal management, budgeting and profit and loss statements;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to interact with diverse audiences;
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time and have and inspire a strong work ethic;
  • Knowledge of fleet management;
  • High energy and passion for the mission of MOWCM;
  • Knowledge of Maryland, its environment, people, culture, and geography;
  • Valid Maryland driver’s license and access to a car; and
  • Experience in non-profits a plus.

Salary is in the range of $115,000 to 125,000.
