System Administrator Responsibilities
- Take primary ownership of the college's datacenter and server hardware.
- ESXi host servers and virtual machines
- HP SAN (Storage Attached Network / HP NAS (Network Attached Storage) / VSAN (Virtual Storage Attached Network)
- Take primary ownership of, configure, and maintain the college's email systems including college staff, faculty, and student accounts through Microsoft 365
3. Take primary ownership of, configure, and maintain the college's backup system via DATTO
4. Work on the administrative side of our SIS website including customizations and administrative troubleshooting.
5. Administer and maintain file servers and network shares.
6. Administer and maintain the college's VMWare environment.
7. Support and maintain the college's core business office application: Microsoft Dynamics GP.
8. Manage and respond to new applications and/or systems that come into the college environment via project
requests.
9. Maintain and oversee the Student Information System (SIS) Software by:
1. -Acting as the primary contact person between HCC and SIS vendor;
2. -Direct all SIS network activities including:
- Any special customizations
- Conducting training of HCC personnel as needed
- Supervise SIS upgrades
- Take primary responsibility for and troubleshoot various issues
10. Audit and maintain data integrity throughout all database systems via SQL Server & SQL Server Management Studio. Create Reporting Services reports upon request.
Network Administrator Responsibilities
- Take primary ownership of the Microsoft Network Infrastructure including, but not limited to: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DCs, Group Policy, and Print Services. Must have knowledge of HP Aruba Switching, Ruckus Wireless, Cisco Meraki Wireless, SonicWall, Avaya Phones and Cisco Umbrella.
- Administer and maintain network security and monitoring tools.
- Administer and manage the network firewall and VPN configuration via SonicWall
- Coordinate the HCC Campus-wide Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) by acting as Network Supervisor, Provide maintenance of same.
- Configure and manage network traffic and routing rules.
- Setup, configure, and maintain the college's wireless environment.
- Setup and configure telepresence learning classroom equipment.
- Maintain the Student Housing network. Administrate and maintain tools that allow student computers to access Internet and network services while keeping the Highland network secure
- Setup, configure, and maintain core network hardware. Run network cabling and install outlets as needed.
- Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting computer and device network access problems.
- Coordinate and program all campus and regional telephone systems.
- Install, maintain, and assist in expanding the College's network access at its various locations including On-Campus and off-campus distance/telepresence learning equipment.
- Maintain network documentation to include connections and routes through the network, domains information, and user network access permissions and assignments. Policies and procedures for on-site connection to the network, including student housing and remote classrooms, should also be included.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems preferred; Associate's in Computer Science/Information Systems with directly related work experience considered. Certification in or knowledge of Microsoft Servers, Exchange, Microsoft SQL and T-SQL, A+, Server+. Related experience preferable. Certification in or knowledge of Network Administration, Microsoft Network Infrastructure.
