The Systems Administrator plays a significant role within the IT Infrastructure Engineering group, acting as the core operator of many systems engineering technical and policy constructs. IT Infrastructure Engineering works within a fast-paced environment to provide real-time project level support and support for system issues at multiple sites. This is a team-focused key position, which requires attention to detail, project management, broad familiarity with technical platforms, awareness of design impacts, respect for policy, as well as customer-facing skills such as patience, tact, and strong verbal and written communications skills. This position requires collaboration with customers, teammates, other business units, and IT management.

Major Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Support and assist with implementation of client and server architecture to including, but not limited to, hardware platforms, client applications, server services, operating systems, storage networks, and network equipment as it applies to enterprise infrastructure.
  • Assist with evaluation, testing, and deployment of new/upgraded hardware, OS, network, and infrastructure applications, integrating with existing system configurations.
  • Analyzes, executes, and develops systems delivery as current in the enterprise and applies changes and/or makes recommendations for capacity planning, documentation, standards, policy, procedure, configuration and/or performance tuning, and design issues according to skillset and experience.
  • Manages, monitors, & governs the ongoing operations of enterprise systems responding to and remediating for issues such as system faults, operational failures, policy breaches, and design faults.
  • Supports system architecture strategy and roadmaps for client/server implementations of various Microsoft, Citrix, Red Hat Linux, Office 365 and VMware based solutions, as defined by Infrastructure Engineers.
  • Executes against Windows server administration standards, according to established policies and guidelines.
  • Supports escalated issues according to skillset, along with the balance of the IT Infrastructure Engineering group.
  • Supports server infrastructure, and associated IT services for the entire company according to skillset, along with the balance of the IT Infrastructure Engineering group.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend work, sometimes with little advanced notice.
  • Position includes scheduled on-call responsibilities
  • Leads by example in demonstrating the Company’s operating principles.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures, GMP and safety standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support Ferrara Candy Company business objectives.

Experiences that will support your success
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and related infrastructure services with 2 – 4 years of experience
  • Advanced knowledge in Windows client and server architecture at a multi-site company with at least 3 years of experience (Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, and Windows 10/11)
  • Working knowledge of the VMWare and related virtual server technologies
  • Working knowledge of scripting technologies including, but not limited to, PowerShell
  • BA or BS degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent work experience
  • Exposure to infrastructure hardware management platform(s) for HP Servers and storage
  • Experience administering Red Hat Linux servers is a plus
  • Broad understanding of all major Windows Server Infrastructure components
  • Microsoft Office 365 administration experience
  • Microsoft SQL administration experience is a plus
  • Experience creating and managing technical procedures
  • Current industry certifications are a plus (e.g., Microsoft, VMWare, ITIL, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Some travel required
