The Systems Engineer role is an integral part of our rapidly growing IT Engineering Team.

IT Engineering at Aya is part traditional local IT Ops supporting the 4 building San Diego campus network, and part Cloud based with all servers, identity and customer facing applications hosted from Microsoft Azure.

The Engineering group is comprised of several teams, each with systems engineers; IT Client Ops, Cloud Ops, Dev Ops, EndPoint Ops, and D.A.R.T teams. System Engineers in these teams are responsible for a wide variety of tasks, with daily responsibilities specific to each team although frequently working between groups collaboratively.

The ideal candidate demonstrates ability in some of the following:

• Implementing, maintaining, and supporting components of Microsoft Azure\Office 365 stack, including Microsoft Exchange Online, Intune (Endpoint Manager) Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Sentinel, IAM, user licensing, or provisioning.
• Solid understanding of network concepts, such as Cisco switching and Meraki WLAN, conference room AV equipment and printer config maintenance.
• Server build and maintenance in Azure IaaS subscriptions utilizing all native components such as Azure VMs, DNS, Certificate Services, Log Analytics, Sentinel, Alerts, App Insights, Dashboards etc.
• Ability to troubleshoot web application and SQL server issues using tools such as App Insights, New Relic, Red Gate, Azure Monitors, Perfmon.
• Functional knowledge of scripting toolsets such as PowerShell, VBScript etc also a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and maintain Office 365 E3/E5 productivity suite – including Microsoft Teams, Intune (Endpoint Manager), Azure Active Directory (P1), SSO, ATP, SharePoint, and MDM.
• Oversee and maintain Azure identity management policies, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and conditional access policies.
• Work with vendors to support and configure local campus WiFi and conference room AV systems and assist in day-to-day maintenance.
• Oversee and maintain Exchange Online High-Volume email environment – including mail flow rules, encryption policies, Anti-Spam\Phishing\Malware rules, archiving, retention policies, and eDiscovery.
• Leads efforts in troubleshooting, remediating, and optimizing any Office 365 issues, while providing strategic recommendations.
• Securely deploy Office 365 services to endpoint devices, via Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager, supporting a multi-vendor platform. (Microsoft, Apple, Android)
• Design, build and support the custom application stack using Terraform (Specific to DevOps team)
• Identifies security risks to our Office 365 environment and services providing mitigations. (specific to D.A.R.T team)
• Monitor performance aspects of customer facing applications using App Insights, New Relic, Azure monitors etc. (specific to D.A.R.T team)
• Perform monthly patching of server environment, configure and monitor all systems for alerts, downtime, certificate expiration, DNS config, build new servers and vnet environments as required. (specific to Cloud Ops team).

Required Qualifications

• 2+ experience in Information Technology with related Microsoft 365/Office 365 and Systems Engineering experience.
• Strong grasp of basic client / server type architecture, experience with Windows Server 20xx in an enterprise environment.
• Networking fundamentals including TCP\IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, and firewalls.
• Strong interpersonal skills - team player, personable, professional, upbeat, and energetic. Takes initiative using tact and diplomacy.
• Expertise in coordination and escalation to Microsoft Premier support and coordination with first- and third-party software vendors as needed to resolve business-impacting problems.
• Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

Compensation: Aya reasonably anticipates the pay scale for this position to be $48.08 to $57.69 hourly, which equates to $100,000 to $120,000 annually.

The pay scale for this position may vary if applicant possesses experience outside of what Aya reasonably anticipates for this position. Bonuses are subject to the role and your manager’s discretion.
