Job Purpose:*
The Talent Development Trainer – Child and Family Well-being provides training and support that ensures Child and Family Well-being staff have the knowledge and skills to do their job effectively. Providing a solid foundation and support to staff allows Wellpoint to carry out our vision where every child and family can thrive.

Duties:*

  • Training and coaching - Consistently trains, models, coaches how to monitor the safety of children as the priority of all work and can assess for present and impending dangers, and the general safety of children in a variety of environments and articulate findings to others and document as required.
  • Team Leadership - Leads assigned department personnel, which may include assisting with oversight and providing input into hiring, learning, scheduling, evaluating, as well as ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the completion of all work performed by team members.
  • Agency Representation - Effectively works as a member of the child welfare team so that service provision is always customer friendly, and this skill is modeled for trainees.
  • Teamwork - Regularly collaborates with child welfare and foster care colleagues to best meet the needs of children and foster families.

Qualifications:*

  • Bachelor’s Degree/ Master’s Preferred in social work, criminal justice, sociology, psychology or a related field required.
  • It is preferred that BSWs are certified by the state of Wisconsin as a Certified Social Worker within 18 months of hire.
  • It is preferred that Non BSWs need to complete approved training program within 24 months of hire and obtain state certification by 36 months of hire.
  • 3 years minimum experience in child welfare/child and family services preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with families experiencing child safety issues and other related areas of need.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and report writing skills.
  • Exhibit professionalism while working effectively and harmoniously with staff, program participants, social service agencies, legal parties, and the public.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services available to program participants and ability to make effective connections based on family need.
  • Understands the issues confronted by families within the child welfare system and the need to make effective connections for services.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the cultural differences among diverse groups and the need to adapt service provision to match these differences in respectful ways.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English or Hmong/Laotian is preferred.
