Tax Accountant Job at PlayCore

The Tax Accountant is a member of the Corporate Accounting and Finance team. The Tax Accountant will work with the Tax Manager and the various operating business units in the coordination and timely filing of Sales & Use tax and corporate government documents. The Tax Accountant will assist in the overall processing of required tax related filings and work on special projects as instructed by the Tax Director.

1. Promotes the Companys mission and values-based culture through minimizing tax costs thereby providing additional resources for PlayCore to build communities through play and recreation.

2. File all Sales & Use Tax Return for Business Units as assigned and review online and mailed tax notices for resolution.

3. Maintain an accurate and current sales and use tax and business license filing calendar with appropriate information for assigned business units.

4. Responsible for maintaining exemption certificates in the Avalara CertCapture database system for assigned companies.

5. Assist the Tax Manager / Director in conducting federal, state, and local tax audits and internal reviews across the various divisions and communicate findings and provide actionable solutions.

6. Provide tax training seminars and webinars to Playcore employees and independent sales reps and help divisions develop processes to improve tax compliance.

7. File annual business license renewals and various quarterly gross receipts tax returns.

8. Perform research on tax issues and monitor publications for relevant legislative changes that may impact the business units.

9. Communicate directly with various taxing jurisdictions to clarify questions, appeal assessments, and monitor the submission of time sensitive legal and tax documents.

10.Other duties assigned by Director or Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in sales and use tax experience is required. CMI designation with the Institute of Professionals in Taxation or other professional tax or accounting designation is preferred.


Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and in using CCH tax research software. Proficiency in Vertex return system, Avalara Tax Engine and CertCapture is preferred.
