ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review, analyze and determine application of city/county/state/federal regulations to ensure company compliance with governmental tax regulations.
• Gather, transform, and communicate sales and use tax information required for monthly compliance activities to internal and external partners
• Provide support for multiple tax type audits and answer inquires from state and local taxing jurisdictions
• Coordinate with accounting team to provide tax related documents to external partners for preparation of tax returns and assist in the review, payment, and filing of federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns
• Verify and confirm account balances by performing reconciliations on tax general ledger accounts
• Ensure the organization is current with changing tax obligations and contact tax agencies to apply for and set up new tax IDs as necessary
• Develop and maintain global tax calendar to include all tax types, due dates, and opportunities
• Serve as an active and valued partner across all business functions regarding tax matters

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• 2+ years of experience in a tax-focused roll
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA license preferred not required
• Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements
• Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial, unstructured environment
• Strong tax/accounting foundation – ability to understand how tax transactions impact financial statements
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and other general office environment software
• Experience with tax software systems, tax research tools, and major ERP systems

Requirements

• Ability to pass a drug test and criminal background check.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
• Experience with payroll taxes not required but preferred
