Position Summary

We are currently hiring a Tax Manager to be an integral and key member of our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex/interesting planning and projects for multiple families in a one-of-a-kind team environment. This is a great role for someone who wants to be challenged, build long-lasting relationships, and play a lead role in managing our families' tax compliance.

The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing a sophisticated tax compliance function in addition to the related planning. The right individual must be excited about handling multiple priorities and complex initiatives and be able to adapt in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate high integrity and discretion as they will be trusted with handling highly sensitive information.

This is a terrific opportunity for someone looking to stay in public accounting but who would like to transition to a more flexible "work from home" work environment without the unnecessary stress and pressure of unrealistic budgets and billable time.

Job Description

The main duties and responsibilities will include the following:

• Prepare and review tax returns and the related workpapers for individuals, gifts, partnerships, foundations, and trusts,
• Resolve complex technical tax issues, consult with experts, and communicate research findings to senior management,
• Liaise with lawyers, trustees, accountants, and other external advisors effecting family-directed strategies,
• Review monthly reporting, and
• Assist with other projects as required.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation,
• CPA and/or JD,
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in public accounting or a family office with an emphasis on taxation,
• Proficient in at least one area: entity, individual and fiduciary taxation; with an understanding of complex investments and the related tax implications,
• Familiar with multi-state taxation,
• Ability to work independently, as work is done remotely,
• Analytical skills,
• Attention to detail, and
• Advanced skills in Excel.
