Job: Senior Tax Analyst

Description:
The Senior Tax Specialist is responsible for direct- and indirect-tax matters, including tax compliance, tax accounting, audits, and tax-related research and special projects. This role will have dotted-line supervision of Tax Analysts and will contribute to the training and development of those roles.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Tax Accounting (25%): Preparation of quarterly- and year-end tax provision calculations, including the determination of the reserve for uncertain tax positions; review of reconciliations of associated G/L accounts; preparation of ad hoc analyses as requested by external and internal stakeholders.
- Calculation of most book-to-tax adjustments needed for the completion of all federal, state, and local income tax returns (i.e., depreciation/amortization, compensation-related adjustments, Forms 5472, Sec. 163(j), etc.); calculation and reconciliation of state apportionment; management of co-source provider in the preparation of domestic income tax returns; preparation of annual provision-to-return adjustments.
- Determination of current requirements for quarterly estimated payments/annual extensions; first-level review of quarterly calculations
- Resolution of all tax notices
- Fixed Assets (10%): Management of fixed assets in SAP; investigation and implementation of process improvements to streamline this process
- Tax Compliance (15%): Management of the indirect tax compliance process, including preparation or review, for the US and Canada, including sales and use tax, property tax, and US excise tax
- Tax Audits (10%): Management of various indirect tax audits, which includes fulfillment of various auditor requests
- Process Improvements (5%): Execution of in-progress multi-phased implementation of indirect tax software (ONESOURCE Indirect Tax), including management of co-sourced providers, design, and testing of automated use tax calculation, as well as implementation of automated management of exemption certificate and electronic filing of periodic tax returns
- Special Projects: Assistance in ongoing efforts to automate various direct- and indirect-tax processes, which will enable all members of the Tax Department to focus on value-added projects while also ensuring that all operational tasks are completed in an accurate and efficient manner
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 6+ years of related experience working within public accounting and/or multinational company
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes, and related issues
- Extensive knowledge of US federal and state income tax concepts, state local sales and use tax (including Canadian GST/HST) concepts
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities and due dates
- Strong knowledge and experience with fundamental accounting concepts
- Commitment to work independently in a flexible work environment
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Comfort in working with external and internal auditors
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
Preferred Skills:
- 6+ years public accounting experience
- CPA and/or MST
- Exposure to US federal excise tax
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP), ONESOURCE Indirect Tax, RPA (Robotic Process Automation) technology
