The Teacher Site Manager ensures that the daily operation of the Head Start Center is in compliance with regulations and that it provides a safe and appropriate learning environment for the students. The Teacher Site Manager is the liaison between the local community and the Early Head Start/Head Start Program. Must meet all of the Teacher qualifications to provide supervision of children.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 12 credits in Early Childhood Education, 1 yr. teaching in child daycare center and 1 year supervising staff.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, agility required to move at children's level including bending, squatting, and kneeling.

Responsibilities:

In addition to teaching in the classroom the following included site supervisory functions are:


  • Schedule and conduct weekly center meetings with all staff.
  • Accept and document phone calls from staff indicating absence and make provisions for staff coverage by way of volunteers (parent, foster grandparent, substitute as per substitute policy). Document absences and tardiness as per policy.
  • Coordinate the work of volunteers/interns in the center, making sure that volunteers and staff follow volunteer guidelines and complete necessary clearances. Provide supervision of all volunteers.
  • Follow payroll procedures for all staff.
  • Document volunteer time.
  • Staff travel time.
  • Packing slips and bills.
  • Student attendance records.
  • CACFP forms.
  • Requests for supplies/materials.
  • Accident/incident forms.
  • Health and Safety Checklists.
  • First aid inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start performance standard and licensing.
  • Facilitate monthly fire drills and documentation of such. Twice annual Shelter in Place Drills will be conducted and documented.
  • Respond to all visitors following established procedures. This includes notifying the appropriate Specialist or Director of any visitor wishing to conduct an interview with children or staff for any reason.
  • Assure that the center's physical location is maintained in an orderly, safe and clean fashion, notifying the appropriate Specialist/Director of needs in this area. Unsafe conditions should be reported immediately (verbally) and followed up in writing. Non-emergencies should be communicated through appropriate written documentation (i.e. center maintenance requests, etc.)
  • Be knowledgeable of center leasing agreement, DSS licensing regulations, Foster grandparent regulations, Performance Standards, Service Plans, Policies & Procedures.
  • Ensure that Child Abuse Reporting Policy is followed.
  • Assist the Assistant Program Director in the licensing/re-licensing of the center (1 time every 4years).
  • Provide substitute coverage in the classroom and in the event of a vacancy.
  • Attend all Parent Meetings - time will be flexed.
  • Complete staff evaluations in a timely manner.
