Technology Instructor and Specialist Job at COMPASS

The COMPASS School is a therapeutic day-school serving students aged 6-21 with varying disabilities including emotional impairment, behavior disorders, and other disabilities that require special education in an individualized environment. This position is a 12 month position.

This position has 2 main roles:

1. Provide basic to high-level end-user support for technology across the agency.

2. Teach digital literacy and computer science curriculum to students (all grade levels, 1-12) with a variety of emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assign and deploy technology hardware and software solutions to staff and classrooms, including technology devices and E-Mail.
  • Set up, deploy, and troubleshoot network and device technology. This includes, but is not limited to, network APs and firewall systems.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Coordinator to manage the agency’s IT help desk, responding to requests in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all educational software in the school. (e.g. FileMaker and Google Suite)
  • Provide ongoing support of educational software to all staff.
  • Teach digital literacy and computer science classes in the COMPASS School.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in all aspects dealing with technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience teaching digital literacy and computer science classes to K-12 students
  • 2+ years within an IT help desk role
  • Successful experience working in an urban school setting
  • Advanced computer knowledge and skills (Apple products preferred)
  • Knowledge of Network Technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Masters in Education (preferred)
  • Certification such as ACSP/ Apple Certified Support Professional (preferred)

Physical Requirements

  • Able to perform Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention
  • Able to lift 20 pounds (computers, technology, etc).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
