UPN is currently looking for an RVP of Operations located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This position will be responsible for the management and direction of a team of OSP and field engineers. The RVP of Operations is responsible for new projects, maintaining the existing UPN network in the assigned market. This role will report to the VP Operations and partner with them to provide overall direction to the operations team ensuring UPN goals and standards are met. This will include providing accurate cost estimates on time, completing projects on time and on budget and repair/maintenance on the existing is completed efficiently and timely. The RVP Operations will also partner closely with the sales team to continue the growth in the market and supporting the existing customer base.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Negotiates or renegotiates new and existing agreements or statements of work, where necessary, including requests for information or requests for proposal and reverse auction generation and facilitation. Prepares scope documents, communication plans, and contract awards. Actively partners with legal teams and stakeholders to develop and execute negotiation strategies that include optimal targets for pricing, service, and quality.
  • Provides thought leadership, continually identifies, and implements new opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance and proactively tracks progress towards these objectives. Implements and measures cost savings, reduction, and avoidance programs and strategies. Continually refines these programs to deliver optimal results for the company.
  • Builds a high-performance team; hires and retains the right talent in the right roles; sets goals, delegates work, holds reports accountable; develops and empowers direct reports to make decisions and act.   • Manages and coordinates outside plant construction and protection, facility and equipment maintenance, and installation of fiber optic equipment throughout the assigned geographical area.
  • Ensures performance results meet or exceed established service levels; on-time performance for service installation, customer response, network restoration, routine repair work, and installation quality.
  • Develop and implement department systems and processes in areas of operations to ensure the successful execution, on-time and within budget.
  • Oversee permitting process.
  • Contributes to the company’s cost-effective management of the operations expense budget and capital expense budget with focus on expense reduction; overtime, on-call, Fleet usage, tools and supplies, cell phone usage, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirement for the position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or Facilities or equivalent experience, strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in telecommunications, networking, technology management, or data center operations.
