Your impact:

House Beautiful is seeking a clever and hyper-organized Editorial Assistant/Social Media Coordinator to join our team. With a range of administrative and writerly responsibilities, this individual will help manage our output in print, on HouseBeautiful.com, through video, and across multiple social media platforms. Strong writing and storytelling skills are as important as meticulous attention to detail, knack for systems management, and a self-starter attitude. If you follow tons of interior designers and home influencers on social and are great with a spreadsheet, you’ll love the job.

What you'll do:

  • Provide general administrative support to senior-level editors and directors
  • Assist with production tasks for both digital and print, including building, updating, and optimizing content; researching stories; building questionnaires; and more
  • Manage daily posts on Facebook and Pinterest
  • Write Instagram captions, help develop Instagram Story assets, and engage with audiences on Instagram and TikTok
  • Assist with daily newsletter and Apple News
  • Regularly update and contribute to the social media team’s planning calendar
  • Manage the editorial and submissions inboxes
  • Write digital stories as needed, coordinating with art team on visuals

Who you are:

  • A self-starter with strong writing skills and some experience working in social media or an editorial environment
  • Hyper organized and unafraid of getting in the weeds with a spreadsheet
  • Ability to write in a variety of tones and imagine content for various platforms
  • Versed in social media management and scheduling tools l(Dash Hudson, SocialFlow, SailThru, CrowdTangle, Google Analytics, Parsley or similar platforms like Sprout Social or Bazaarvoice)
  • Solid judgment as to what works to drive audience and engagement in digital media
  • A quick thinker, hard worker, and positive team player; able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with and interest in home, interior design, and relevant pop culture news, especially a diverse set of social creators and influencers in the home and interior design space

The base rate for this role is $25 an hour. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
