Position Profile:

The TA Head, Neurosciences, Global Medical Affairs (GMA), will lead the therapeutic area of neurosciences for Jazz Medical Affairs globally. S/he/they will play a critical role on Jazz’s Global Medical Affairs Leadership Team and report directly to the Vice President, Head of Global Medical Affairs. S/he/they will provide pivotal leadership and direction in the development and execution of an integrated global medical affairs strategy and plan. The TA Head, Neurosciences, GMA will collaborate with cross-functional, matrix and regional teams in setting the strategic plan for both pipeline and inline products. Serving as the internal subject matter expert, the TA Head, Neurosciences, GMA will be the voice of Medical in the Global Franchise team to support franchise related decisions and provide a holistic medical perspective across the disease area. S/he/they will be accountable for defining and executing evidence generation objectives and study prioritization aligned to the global molecule strategy including ISTs, database mining, real world evidence and Ph IV studies. S/he/they must embody strong interpersonal and relationship building skills as they will be accountable for maintaining relationships with global experts and for representing Neuroscience franchise in medical activities at medical and scientific conferences.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high performing GMA Neurosciences team.
  • Hire and staff team to address GMA Neuroscience needs
  • Train and mentor new employees to ensure successful onboarding. Coach and develop existing employees including the completion of timely performance evaluations.
  • Ensure appropriate budget setting, resource allocation and expense monitoring.
  • Responsible for the development and execution of integrated GMA Neurosciences strategies and plans in alignment with the Neuroscience franchise objectives
  • Represents the voice of Medical in the Global Franchise team to support franchise related decisions and provide a holistic medical perspective across disease area as the subject matter expert
  • Accountable for developing a global strategic and tactical plan that is both product specific and disease area focused. In alignment with commercial, clinical development, health economics and outcome research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) plans, translating appropriate strategies into life cycle management and effective medical launch activities
  • Ensure a patient-centric approach to development of medical strategy
  • Accountable for development of publication strategy and plan for Neurosciences, including review of manuscripts for publications and abstracts and posters for presentation at scientific meetings
  • Develop strategy for KOL engagement at the Global Neurosciences level, particularly for early phases of development with continued oversight and alignment of KOL strategy through product’s lifecycle
  • Build and maintain relationships with global experts - able to obtain important key scientific insights to support the Neurosciences TA
  • Conduct late-stage scientific due diligence for in-license opportunities, when requested
  • Represent Neurosciences in medical activities at medical and scientific conferences and build Jazz’s reputation
  • Represent, collaborate, influence and negotiate across the organization with senior stakeholders to provide Medical Affairs inputs for Neurosciences specific product(s)

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 plus years in medical affairs
  • Minimum of 8 plus years in leading and managing teams, Medical Affairs teams preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to create and lead cross functional teams in changing and competitive environment
  • Demonstrated experience in early and late clinical development
  • Doctorate degree required. MD degree preferred.
  • Clinical experience in the field of neurosciences, such as sleep medicine, epilepsy, movement disorders, psychiatry or other related areas is highly desired.
  • Experience delivering end to end evidence generation activities, such as Phase IV and Investigator initiated studies
  • Experience with strategic and tactical planning for pipeline and marketed product
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity and collaboration required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, team building, negotiation and ability to execute a must.

For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $256,000-$336,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
