This position on the NYC Transit payroll and is eligible for the 55-a Program. This position is open to qualified persons who are eligible for the 55-a Program. In order to protect our employees and continue to provide safe and reliable service to our communities, as of November 14, 2021, we are requiring all new MTA hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their start date. MTA will consider exceptions for religious and medical reasons, where appropriate. “Fully vaccinated” means you must have both doses of a 2-dose vaccine and two weeks have elapsed since the second dose or have received 1 dose of a 1-dose vaccine and two weeks have elapsed since the dose. Compensation


Staff Analyst Trainee I (TA): $46,171 - $48,938 (New Hire Rate: $40,149) Represented by OSA
Staff Analyst Trainee I (OA): $46,361 - $49,143 (Represented by TWU)
Staff Analyst Trainee II (TA): $49,864 - $55,406 (New Hire Rate: $43,361) Represented by OSA
Staff Analyst Trainee II (OA): $50,073 - $55,634 (Represented by TWU)

TA CANDIDATES MUST BE IN A PERMANENT CIVIL SERVICE STATUS IN THE TITLE(S) OF ASSISTANT TRANSIT MANAGEMENT ANALYST IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED OR BE ON AN ESTABLISHED LIST OR HAVE PASSED A CORRESPONDING EXAMINATION.


Responsibilities


This trainee is responsible for assisting to provide timekeeping services including, but not limited to, the timely and accurate recording of time, tracking and maintenance of sick and annual leave balances, reconciliation of payroll entries, and conduct audits of timekeeping records. The selected candidate will also assist to serve as a Liaison between Timekeeping and User departments, as well as, ensuring correct and consistent application of time & leave regulations based on policy, law and Collective bargaining agreements.

Education and Experience


Staff Analyst Trainee 1:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
Staff Analyst Trainee 2:
Completion of 1 year of satisfactory service at Step 1.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office(Word, Access, Excel)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizing skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and exercise good judgement
  • Prior Timekeeping/Payroll experience preferred
