Purpose
The purpose of this classification, under direction, is to perform supervisory, technical and administrative work in the fabrication, installation and maintenance of traffic control and related signs, and the installation and maintenance of roadway pavement markings. Performs related work as required. Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience - High school diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) years progressively responsible experience in fabrication, installation and maintenance of traffic control and related signs, and in the installation and maintenance of roadway and pavement markings, two (2) of which shall be in a lead/supervisory capacity with experience in the administrative aspects of the work.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

International Municipal Signal Association Levels "I", "II", and "III" Signs and Marking certifications. Valid State of Florida Driver"s License. Certified Worksite Traffic Supervisor.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Plans, schedules, supervises, and inspects the work of personnel under charge engaged in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of traffic control and related signs, and the installation and maintenance of roadway pavement markings.

Establishes production goals for the division; monitors progress; adjust schedules accordingly. Develops and implements special event traffic management plans.
Develops and coordinates disaster recovery team, roadway clearance and debris removal; maintains emergency call out personnel on a 24-hour 7-day work schedule.

Assists in the planning and design of new or modified traffic control systems; assists in preparation of capital and operating budget.

Prepares and submits division operating budget; administers purchasing of all materials and equipment; prepares cost estimates.

Prepares reports and studies of traffic maintenance and construction activities.

Maintains a variety of records via computer (i.e., inspections, maps, damage loss, billing, special event calendars).

Oversees repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of division equipment, materials and supplies.

Supervises setting up of detours for emergencies and special events.

Ensures the observance of safe and proper operating procedures when operating equipment, machinery, and/or tools, in accordance with established and prescribed standards.

Ensures adherence to traffic safety and work zone safety standards in accordance with City policy. Attends various City meetings as division representative.
Oversees all maintenance zone inspections.

Has thorough knowledge of principles and practices of traffic control and management; fabrication, installation and maintenance of traffic control related signs; and the installation and maintenance of roadway pavement markings. Has thorough knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities

of the position. Has thorough knowledge of the organization of the department, and of related departments and agencies. Clearly understands the occupational hazards and safety precautions required to perform the essential functions of the work. Has thorough knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertain to work responsibilities.
