JOB SUMMARY:
Provides one-on-one training and support to older adults and individuals with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities on the safe and proper use of public transportation. Participates in group outreach, training sessions, and provides program support. This position reports to the Mobility Manager. The hours and schedule of this position vary based on the time of year, and range from 15-25 hours per/wk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides one-on-one training and support to older adults and individuals with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities on the safe and proper use of public transportation.
2. Motivates clients/caregivers to achieve their independent travel goals.
3. Gathers demographic and general client information. Enters data into database and updates as needed.
4. Uses data for marketing strategy to reach more potential clients; establishes goals for future years.
5. Prepares and conducts group presentations, individualized travel planning, securement consultation and route planning.
6. Coordinates, schedules, and provides securement training for new and interested users of mobility devices.
7. Provides sensitivity training for operators, instructors, dispatch, etc.
8. Provides community outreach presentations and participates in resource fairs to provide information on new initiatives, changes, and current programs.
9. Advertises upcoming events.
10. Performs special projects and other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. At least one (1) year of experience working with seniors and/or people with disabilities; Or a current student within one of the following programs: Education, Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Physical Therapy.
2. Recent experience and understanding of MCTS routes, schedules, and fares.
3. Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of training strategies and techniques.
2. Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) rules and laws.
3. Knowledge of MCTS operations and policies, as well as Paratransit Program, Transit Plus and other operations.
4. Knowledge of training trends and best practices.
5. Skilled in computer operations and spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and related software.
6. Ability to develop and execute company strategies to attain outcomes for set goals.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
8. Ability to work independently.
9. Ability to present to others.
10. Ability to work with people with disabilities and seniors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
1. Work is frequently conducted an office, community, outdoor, street, or bus environment.
2. Incumbents may sometimes be exposed to hostile or irate individuals, individuals with known violent backgrounds, extreme weather, communicable diseases, moving mechanical parts or loud noises.
3. Physical requirements are those described as medium work exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
