As an Ultrasound Specialist, you will perform general diagnostic ultrasound exams for subsequent evaluation and treatment. Your skills will be utilized in all units of the hospital.

Qualifications:
Education: Associate Degree

Education specialization: Radiologic Sciences

Credentials: NM Ultrasound Tech Certification
Responsibilities:
  • Perform general diagnostic ultrasounds to include abdomen, pelvic, OB/GYN, and associated general role ultrasound exams.
  • Prepares written required documentation and ultrasound department policy.
  • Maintains records of exam data and other pertinent information on patients. Uses Radiology Information System, hospital information systems as required.
  • Assists physician in during procedures; ensure knowledge of sterile technique.
  • Maintains established hospital radiology and ultrasound policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
  • Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably.
  • Communicates patient prior to, during, and after scanning procedure explaining the procedure and answering patient questions.
  • Assists in maintaining upkeep of department and equipment - including ordering and stocking supplies when necessary.
  • Attends section staff meetings, workshops, and seminars for continuing education to enhance professional growth and development.
  • Schedules ultrasound cases to coordinate with other patient exams.
  • Takes infrequent call for ultrasound procedures.
