Duties: University Police Communications and Security Specialists provide communications, security, and public safety services within a 24/7 operation in the University Police Departments at the campuses of the State University of New York (SUNY). Their primary responsibility is to function as the initial point of contact between the police and the public, performing dispatching activities, and using various databases, online systems, and multiple video sources.

Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
1. Must be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service canvass list for a University Police Communications & Security Specialist 1, SG-10.
2. One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 8 or higher and
eligible for transfer under Section 70.1

Must obtain a Security Guard Photo ID from the New York State Department of State within 90 days of appointment
