Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Vice President of Human Resources for LHUO is a member of the LHUO Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Regional Executive Committee. The VP HR for LHUO serves as a trusted advisor and partner to other senior leaders and plays a critical role in supporting and advancing the LHUO campus strategy and mission. A distinctive part of this leadership role is oversight of the human resource functions at Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando – a world-class resort destination, which also encompasses 8 hotels/resorts and an integrated central support center and laundry facility. Currently the LHUO campus includes 10 worksite locations and employs 5,500+ Team Members. This position reports indirectly to the CPO of Loews Hotels and Co, to ensure all initiatives are aligned with the People Strategy at Loews Hotels and Co.
The VP HR role at LHUO currently manages a team of approximately 40 personnel including 9 direct reports, where several areas within the HR discipline are lead through a Center of Expertise (COE) model from the Lakewood Regional Support Center in the areas of: Talent Acquisition and Talent Development, Benefits, HR Compliance & Compensation, and Training and Learning/Development. Additionally, at the hotel/resort location there are HR staff on-site providing Team Member relations support.
The successful VP HR for LHUO candidate will place emphasis on improved consistency, visibility, and oversight of key HR-related issues for the LHUO enterprise, especially those at touchpoints between the various organizations. The incumbent will provide meaningful support to all levels regarding human resources issues and assure the timely exchange of accurate information, reports, data, documents, trend to support management and decision-making processes. Essential Functions

  • Oversees HR support for eight hotels and a regional centralized services center (SSC), and manages and centralized services HR team as well as property based HR teams at the hotels/resorts focusing on Team Member Relations matters.
  • Ensures the accurate and timely preparation and presentation of HR project plans and service delivery each hotel and the Lakewood support center thorough the oversight of LHUO HR Division.
  • In conjunction with the Sr. HR leadership at LHUO, coordinates the training & development of LHUO HR support staff.
  • Recruits, interviews and selects staff to support the LHUO HR Division.
  • Responsible for monitoring contracts for temporary third party labor sources in keeping with LH standards, JV covenants, and management contract covenants.
  • Oversees development of short (30/60/90) and long-term plans pertaining to all areas associated with the LHUO HR Division to support LHUO business objectives.
  • Prepares annual budgets for regional cost centers
  • Monitors action plans to remedy internal control deficiencies noted in HR compliance and internal audits
  • Conducts Property Reviews and Operational Self Assessments to drive optimal service to each LHUO location to include TM engagement results.
  • Represents Loews Hotels HR Strategic Objectives by providing support and leadership from the regional-level and provides feedback to the SVPO at LHUO and CPO with Loews Hotels & Co. to identify areas of opportunity to help develop solutions that best support the needs of the LHUO campus.
  • Oversees and participates as needed in special projects and activities at hotels in region.
  • Elevates complex HR related matters to the SVP of Operations for LHUO and CPO for Loews Hotels in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for regional reporting of results to SVP of Operations
  • Serves as a key liaison with JV partners on areas related to the HR function and also collaborates with Loews Hotels Corporate HR on Strategic Business Objectives and sharing of best practices from the LHUO campus.
Essential Functions – LHUO Specific
  • Functions as the senior HR executive for JV affairs at the local level
  • Responsible maintaining a Top Workplace Culture
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and SOP’s relating to human resources to include affirmative action/EEO compliance and diversity objectives.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting to ownership any issues that compromise the Partnership Agreements and Amendments.
  • Monitors key HR Analytics to address any opportunities and mitigate any risk to the JV partnerships.
  • Makes recommendations for annual wage and total rewards strategy to incorporate into annual budget and has responsibility for establishing and managing the HR budget for the LHUO campus.
  • Represents HR operations in all activities related to development growth of the campus
  • Assist with the design and implementation of workforce and organizational plans to support the growth of the LHUO campus.
  • Reviews a contracts and service agreements that pertain to the HR function to ensure compliance with SOP’s and JV partnership agreements.
  • In conjunction with the SVP of Operations and VP of Finance serves as part of the LHUO Compensation Committee making local decisions and recommendations in the areas of compensation and total rewards.
  • Also works with the SVP of Operations and LHUO SLT to establish budgets for existing and new-build hotels to include capital plans.
  • Monitors the financial status of key general ledger accounts to stay in-line with budget and forecast.
  • Provides support at monthly JV Partner Financial Reviews as necessary and serves as a key liaison between Loews Hotels and JV partners on all matters pertaining to the HR discipline

Preferred:

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Human Resources, Business Administration, or Psychology.
Experience: 15 plus years of experience in Human Resources with at least 5 at senior-level.
Computer Skills: Excel, MS office suite, Workday or equivalent payroll/HRMS platform.
Licenses or Certificates: SHRM—SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR
