Job Overview:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our leadership team at Lovelace Health System as a Vice President of Operations.
The Vice President of Operations provides leadership and directs the overall operation of LHS consistent with the mission, values, and strategy of Ardent Health Services. The Vice President of Operations reports to the Americas Regional President and has the following direct reports: CEO of Lovelace Medical Center, CEO of Westside, CEO of Women’s, and CEO of Lovelace Regional Hospital (Roswell). The Market CMO and Vice President of Human Resources also have dual reporting role to this position.

This position plans, organizes, directs, and controls all operational pursuits for LHS. The VP will coordinate with all enterprise shared services and empower effective partnerships with strategic vendor relationships. The Lovelace VP of Market Operations uses all resources to generate measurable results to benefit the corporation, the community, the facility, the medical staff, and the patient.

Responsibilities:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Market VP is responsible for the oversight of excellent healthcare to the New Mexico communities we serve, patient experience, patient safety, and provider’s success. Formulating revenue and operational goals.
  • Serves as a member of the Senior Executive Leadership Team (SLT), attending and contributing to a bi-weekly meeting focused on organizational imperatives.
  • Directs the development and preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on strategic market plans and direct operations to achieve budgeted profit results and other operational criteria, such as inventory, staffing levels, etc.
  • Primary owner for the New Mexico market, full profit and loss responsibility for all hospital and out-patient.
  • Leader identification. Demonstrated ability to identify, attract and retain high performing leaders with an ability to adapt to the ever-changing market conditions.
  • Encourages and develops seasoned, well thought initiatives with key leaders.
  • Functions as a true Profit center who “own” their respective businesses, in developing and meeting quarterly, and annual plans.
  • Promotes cooperation among market entities and champion’s company strategies for sharing services, such as financial, technology, marketing, legal and human resources etc.
  • Coaches, directs, motivates and problem-solves with direct reports to empower business plan successes.
  • Ensures sound services and working relationships with our joint venture partner UNM, third party payers, vendors, outside consultants and public and governmental bodies while maintaining compliance with ethical and legal standards.
  • Develops an operations cost structure and operating practices consistent with quality services that will enable hospitals to compete aggressively in the marketplace.
  • Prepares and presents operational and financial reports as required in regularly scheduled meetings and committees.
  • Champions Ardent Health Services’ ethics & compliance program as well as their Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Ensures that policies are uniformly understood and consistently interpreted and administered.
  • Maintains accreditation and licensure standards for, Medicare, Medicaid, state licensure, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Effectively balances the move toward standardization and uniformity, but maintaining an entrepreneurial drive for trending best-demonstrated practices and innovation in all aspects of field operations.
  • Collaborates effectively with a broad spectrum of leaders, including direct and indirect relationships constantly seeking for edge on market trends.
  • Patient’s consumerism. Thought leadership on the flow of healthcare spending and demand.
  • Strategizes and drives towards innovative improvements. These may focus on delivery of care and operational models designed to improve clinical services, outcomes, patient through put, and patient safety.
  • Out-patient strategies and the alignments with allied care services.
  • Promotes the use and implementations of technology in order to streamline operations, facilitates communications, and simplifies work processes. Specifically, the optimization of the Epic EMR.
  • Understanding EMR platforms and other platforms such as telehealth.
  • Willingness to relocate to Albuquerque, NM and travel periodically both in and out of state.
Qualifications:

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital Administration, or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in multihospital leadership positions and 20+ years of hospital administration.
  • Excellent verbal, quantitative, managerial, and interpersonal skills.
  • Current knowledge of OSHA, state and federal regulatory standards.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate ideas, problems, instructions (written and oral) with corporate management staff, facility management staff and employees.
  • Ability to analyze situations, evaluate data, recommend, and implement courses of action that would improve the functioning of the company.

  • Ability to use sound judgment in decision making and react calmly and effectively in an emergency situation.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning and short and long-range goal implementation.
