We are hiring a Vice President of Operations to join our team!

As our Vice President of Operations for Watkins Wellness, you will develop and implement all Operations-related strategic initiatives, oversee the tactical management of Supply Chain, Manufacturing (all plants), Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement, Advanced Manufacturing, and Maintenance and Facilities, at all our manufacturing locations. To optimize Watkins Wellness’ Operations and produce our leading hot tub and aquatic fitness products such, Hot Spring® Spas, Caldera® Spas, Freeflow Spas®, Fantasy Spas® and Endless Pools®, you will lead multiple teams across multiple facilities in Vista, CA and Tijuana, Mexico, and develop short and long-term plans to achieve Watkins’ overall quality, business, and profit objectives. This leadership position can be based out of our Vista, CA or our Tijuana, MX headquarters.


YOUR RIPPLE EFFECT

  • Are you an inspirational leader? You will lead and manage multiple teams which include direct reports and indirect reports (~2500 employees across U.S. and Mexico). Through your direct reports, which include Director level Plant Managers, and leaders within Operations, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Advanced Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement, you will ensure that your leaders are creating engaged and motivated teams, managing performance, and coaching and mentoring team members
  • Do you have a strategic mentality? You will develop and implement both short- and long-term manufacturing strategies and programs designed to improve our company’s growth, competitive position, and profitability. You will be responsible for leading strategies related to Advanced Manufacturing, Robotics, Automation, New Product Introduction, and overall production of our products in each location.
  • Are you results driven? You will provide strategic and tactical management of our manufacturing plants in Vista, California and facilities in Tijuana, Mexico. You will also ensure that the day-to-day operations are being handled and that each facility is running smoothly through the respective Plant Managers.
  • Do you have a passion for Supply Chain? As our Vice President of Operations, you will have oversight of our Supply Chain function (through a Director of Supply Chain), which includes, production planning, strategic sourcing, procurement, master scheduling, inventory management, import/export, trade compliance and logistics, including service parts, accessories, and kitting.
  • Are you quality-focused? We will look to you to ensure that our products conform to, or extend, established quality standards.
  • Are you a champion for Safety? You will lead your teams to adopt a safety approach to promote health and safety throughout the Operations organization.
  • Can you drive Continuous Improvement and Lean concepts? You will help to evangelize a Continuous Improvement culture and will identify, implement, and manage process improvements, through the Masco Operating System and Continuous Improvement measures, and create and implement support strategies, measurements, and metrics across the organization.
  • Are you focused on Cost-Efficiency? You will work to achieve total cost productivity targets (cost reduction, automation, vertical integration, etc.) through YOY savings measures, sourcing, different suppliers, resource management, advanced manufacturing opportunities, etc.
  • Can you effectively manage resources? You will provide efficient management, oversight, and review of all resources, including team members, technical, material, and financial resources, to achieve optimum profitability over the budget year.
  • Can you manage a budget? As part of this role, you will prepare and manage the Operations’ expense and capital budgets by participating in the budget planning and forecasting processes, as well as reviewing department expenses throughout the year.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations-related field of study is required. M.B.A or master’s degree is highly preferred. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience at a senior manufacturing leadership level, with a strong manufacturing and supply chain background. Knowledge of manufacturing in Mexico and experience working with Maquiladoras is helpful and preferred. Experience leading multiple manufacturing plants preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities along with demonstrated success in team leadership and performance management are required.
  • APICS, CPIM, and/or Six Sigma Black belt certifications are a plus.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel. HRIS – Workday is preferred.
  • Advanced Tier 1 ERP system familiarity required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, ability to present and inspire small to large audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels in the organization. Must be able to present information to a group of co-workers, supervisors, managers or higher-level executives.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to Tijuana, Mexico and Vista, California on a weekly basis and/or as needed.

Hiring Range: $167,800-$263,659

Many factors affect actual compensation including but not limited to experience, education, skills, and geographic location.
