Victim Advocate - Youngstown, OH,
Salary $: $14.00 per hour, Part time; 20 hours per week
Shift: Dayshift, M-F
Responsibilities:
- Provide face-to-face crisis intervention at COMPASS’ Youngstown State University satellite office to offer emotional support and other assistance. Provide advocacy, and information and referral about other community resources, including COMPASS’ Sojourner House. Offer accurate information about all aspects of sexual assault to survivors and their families.
- Attend program staff meeting and supervisory meetings as scheduled.
- Document information on crisis calls and report to supervisor the next business day and return required paperwork to supervisor as required.
- Assist with public outreach events on the YSU campus in cooperation with both YSU and other COMPASS programs
- Participate in the crisis on-call rotation for Rape Crisis hotline and accompaniment emergency callouts.
Qualifications:
- College education and experience in counseling, social work, criminal justice or related field required.
- BA in social work, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
- Will need to complete 40 hours of core training. Thirty hours every two years thereafter are required and need to be maintained.

Miscellaneous requirements: Criminal background check; Pre-employment drug screen; Clear driving record; TB test and First Aid/CPR. Non-judgmental, strong oral and written communication skills. High stress due to timeliness, frequency and volume of interpersonal interaction, and potential crisis situations.
Non-Exempt: Non-exempt, eligible for overtime.
