POSITION SUMMARY

The Vineyard Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operation of multiple vineyards throughout Texas including all elements of planning, budgeting, purchasing, maintenance, personnel management and hands on execution of vineyard tasks. This includes hands on management of vineyards owned and controlled by Messina Hof as well as advising, coordination and assistance to vineyards whose fruit is contracted to Messina Hof.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

· Supervises vineyard personnel.

· Coordinate and execute daily activities with personnel and equipment including pruning, tying, suckering, irrigation, fertilization, tractor activities, spraying, harvesting, and any other required tasks.

· Execute training programs for vineyard and production staff to develop viticulture skills and understanding.

· Properly operate a forklift, tractor, excavator, trencher, and many other large and small equipment’s

· Visit vineyards routinely to oversee progress and quality of work performed and to provide direction and assistance on corrective actions.

· Responsible for all ordering of part and supplies to ensure continued operation of vineyards

· Interface with Human Resources to ensure proper staffing and training at all locations

· Create and oversee the annual vineyard calendar and plan and communicate the plan to owners and company management team

· Oversee and review adherence to budgets.

· Oversee all operation of vineyards throughout Texas controlled by Messina Hof as well as vineyards contracted for fruit purchases.

· Act as a liaison between our growers and Messina Hof to ensure quality grape growing practices, fruit quality expectations and harvest execution.

· Assist in contracting of fruit in order to meet the grape needs of Messina Hof

· Work closely with the owner to schedule grape deliveries to wineries during harvest.

· Complete weekly reports to owners

· Attend industry functions and events such as association meetings, trainings etc.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statement(s)

· 6-10 years of experience – Hands on Vineyard / Farm Management

· Pesticide Applicator License preferred

· Ability to use a personal computer

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
