JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the management of raw material and finished goods inventories supporting the customers and vendors of the Orrville manufacturing plant. This includes following corporate policies and best practices and developing an environment focused on associate growth, team-centric performance, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Department Duties

  • Advance the departmental culture (values and behaviors) in alignment with corporate objectives-understand and execute the principles of the Operational Excellence program driving the right behaviors, standards, and continuous improvement across all operating entities
  • Coach and develop the talents of the manufacturing team through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, goal setting, and career planning
  • Provide leadership to all direct reports and ensure appropriate oversight and hands-on engagement with indirect reports
  • Support and execute corporate policies governing warehouse management processes and activities
  • Ensure the department manages all operational activities in compliance with the Food Safety Quality certifications of the facilities – including but not limited to Grade A fluid milk, HACCP, SQF3
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to advance the company’s business interests (e.g., new product development, new line planning, etc.)
  • Comply with corporate standards for fixed asset purchasing and management
  • Support regular customer, regulatory and third-party audits and inquiries as required
  • Ensure the department manages activities in conjunction with the regulatory and certifying requirements of each facility, including but not limited to HACCP, SQF Level 3, State and Federal regulations, etc.
  • Manage warehouse associates (including completion of all required training), monitor individual work performance, and ensure the safe use of all industrial equipment
  • Management of 3PL freight and oversight of our use of 3PL warehouses to effectively handle, store and ship our products to our customers.
  • Review, manage and implement procedures for effective inventory management, including effective space utilization, product rotation, and inventory optimization
  • Ensure open POs are closed out within 24 hours of receipt
  • Work with S&OP on warehouse space capacities
  • Assess and report out warehouse productivity daily
  • Ensure DOMs are operational and running effectively
  • Create or revise SOPs to ensure best practices are followed

Safety, Food Safety Quality, Productivity

  • Ensure appropriate implementation and management of Safety and Food Safety Quality GMPs
  • Ensure that we adhere to all state and federal regulations in the areas of safety and food safety quality
  • Ensure that we follow all company and customer standards
  • Work with teams to set goals to improve and demonstrate meaningful improvements in Safety, Food Safety Quality, and Productivity

Financial

  • Responsible for improving the cost position of the assigned work teams preventing or eliminating issues including overtime, labor efficiency, shrink, energy consumption, etc. with an expected annual savings goal of 3%
  • Responsible for identifying annual capital improvements and creating appropriate business cases to justify an investment
  • Prioritize and manage top improvement goals and projects to ensure appropriate support from shared services like preventative maintenance, scheduling, and supply chain

Supervisory Responsibility/Reporting and Working Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Director of Warehousing and Logistics


Work Environment

  • Exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations
  • Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions, hot and cold
  • Noise level can be loud on the job site
  • Both office and plant environment

  • Able to lift up to 80 pounds, occasionally
  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, mathematics, engineering, or other related fields/or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Five or more years of experience in warehouse or production supervision
  • Basic business and financial acumen
  • At ease in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrable abilities in leadership through influence


Position Type/Expected Hour of Work

  • Must be willing to work a varied schedule of up to fifty hours per week
  • Additional hours and days (holidays, weekends) as required
  • Expected Work Activity
    • 70% on-site supervision, problem-solving, implementing, and observing
    • 20% office, planning, reporting
    • 10% staff meetings, group planning, audits, and tours

Travel

  • Travel estimated at 15% to support business activities
