Waste & Resources Coordinator

ENTRY-LEVEL SALARY: $42,132 annually

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent.
  • At least four (4) years of work experience in an office setting OR Bachelor’s degree from a CHEA accredited college or university in Environmental Studies or other related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least one (1) year of experience in public works, solid waste, recycling or a closely related field.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitors service requests from 311 to ensure accuracy and proper assignment.

Provides customer service to members of the general public as it relates to waste and recycling collection.

May assist in overseeing service support personnel (i.e. Americorps, Intern, Office Assistant).

Manages and coordinates with waste contractor to resolve all complaints and issues regarding small commercial, downtown, curbside trash and recycling programs.

Supervises all accounting and record keeping activities as they relate to solid waste, contracts and contract management (Including the Solid Waste Transfer Station).

Assists with the coordination of several special programs, involving community outreach, solid waste reduction, recycling and other programs.

Conducts research, collects and inputs data, and prepares reports on service delivered, production totals, and contract compliance for the Public Service Director and senior staff.

Maintains accurate records for billing purposes as it relates to downtown and small commercial waste and recycling customers.

Acts as liaison for other organizations (i.e., Waste Connections, Living Earth, KPD, KFD, etc.).

Assists in the development of short and long range plans.

Provides clerical assistance and upkeep of data

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

May assist with the City’s composting program.

Performs related work as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,132.00 - $67,411.00 per year
