Job Summary:
We’re looking for an experienced software engineering program manager to help lead our growth and technology transformation initiatives with a focus on our Web and Mobile Web Digital Commerce product platforms. The core function of this role is to drive cross-team, cross-functional, and 3rd party planning, process, and execution in a customer-focused organization as a key partner to the software Product Owner(s). This is a high visibility individual contributor career-building role that leads through influence. This position is a flexible hybrid on-site/remote role based in Rochester, NY.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates delivery across teams, functions, and 3rd parties, managing all dependencies, implementing Agile principles. Works with the teams to balance requirements, time, and cost and make trade-offs. Publishes meeting agendas and minutes. Drives risk assessment, including mitigation and contingency plans. Finds ways to maximize use of internal and external resources. Maintains status and dependency information in product roadmapping tool in alignment with Product Owner(s).
  • Supports Product Owner(s) in prioritization of backlogs, management of product roadmaps, and release planning in a scaled agile environment.
  • Coordinates appropriate management reviews and Agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos, sprint retrospectives, checkpoints, etc.
  • Contributes to organizational and team continuous process improvement and enhancements to standards and tools.
  • Manages external partners and suppliers, including statements of work, contracts, and relationships, including business and technical aspects.
  • Ensures all required legal and regulatory approvals are obtained and maintained, e.g. SW licenses, PCI, certificates, GDPR, etc.
  • Leads international teams including some early morning or late-night meetings.
  • Works with the teams to investigate and recommend technology choices and make/buy decisions. Contributes to software architecture decisions.
  • Translates KPI’s and OKR’s into appropriate software performance metrics. Establishes cross-functional criteria for software release. Approves release readiness of all software and cross-functional deliverables, e.g., software, release notes, call center training documents, service plans, etc.
  • Participates in decision-making for disposition of Incident Reports. Contributes to prioritization of incoming Service Escalations and Change Requests.
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field
  • 8+ years Agile Web application development and deployment experience with a proven track record of shipping to market
  • 5+ years’ experience as a software development manager in a multi-team environment, planning and leading multiple programs using Agile and Scaled Agile management practices
  • Relevant experience managing 3rd party development partners
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • The ability to be an effective member of a team of managers including a drive to accomplish the collective goals of the team
  • Skilled at collaborating and comfortable navigating at any level of the organization
  • Knowledge of modern Web application design, development, security, deployment, monitoring, and analysis
  • Deep understanding of software engineering, quality, and DevOps best practices
  • Systems mentality – ability to understand how various system components work together to produce desired outcomes, including hardware components
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree or coursework in a relevant field
  • PMP/Agile certification
  • Mobile (iOS and/or Android) development experience, including the Apple or Android app store
  • Experience working on multi-national projects
  • Experience with photographic or video imaging applications
