JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Visitor Experience Supervisor- Job Purpose: Supervise (while working alongside) Floor/Party Host Staff Associates to ensure that all children and families visiting the Museum have a great experience by providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Employee Classification: Non-exempt, part-time, hourly

Work Schedule:

  • Some Friday evenings for special events (typically 4pm-10pm)
  • Saturdays 9:00am-Close (Typically closing at 5pm but after hour events may require closing at 9pm)
  • Sundays 9am & 11:00am-Close shifts (Typically closing at 5pm but pre and after hour events may require extended hours)

Starting Rate: $16 to $17.00/hour Reports To: Operations Manager

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain Quality Customer Service by:

  • Providing hospitality to children and their caregivers by greeting each visitor, offering information, answering questions, and providing general assistance
  • Oversee all operations of Museum during working hours
  • Plan and organize weekend pop up workshops, Sensory Friendly Days and any other weekend activities
  • Direct Supervisor of visitor experience front desk staff, party hosts, floor staff and volunteers
  • Will serve as the point of contact for weekend shift. All weekend team members will communicate scheduling, days off or calling in sick with weekend manager.
  • Manager will be cross-trained to cover Visitor Experience role as needed for coverage.
  • Checking in customers, selling memberships, gift certificates, retail items, or other Museum products Communicating Museum policies to visitors
  • Providing Assistance with exhibits as needed
  • Displaying role model characteristics in duties and demeanor
  • Maintain Safe and Clean Museum Environment by:
  • Walking through Museum making sure all thru ways are clear of debris or obstacles
  • Upkeep of bathrooms, snack area, reusable exhibit products, spills, and general cleanliness
  • Cleaning props and exhibits throughout the day
  • Participating in prep and cleaning for parties and events
  • Provides assistance to Exhibits and Programming staff.
  • Maintain a Safe Museum Environment by:
  • Following and enforcing Museum standards and policies
  • Communicating any potential or active problems to the appropriate Museum staff
  • Assisting in lost child/caregiver response
  • Provide basic first aid as needed
  • Keeping up to date on Museum policies, standards, and specific language
  • Participating in training sessions to review known material and learn new material
  • Assisting in additional tasks as assigned by supervisor or other Museum Directors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Experience in customer service or a museum or education environment is a plus
  • Supervisory experience working in team environments preferred
  • Enjoy working with children and promoting learning through play
  • Exceptional customer service skills. Must be welcoming, attentive, and responsive to our visitors and colleagues.
  • Responsible self-starter with problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively, but independently as necessary
  • A great sense of humor!
  • Comfortable cleaning up occasional kid-related messes and spills
  • Great communication skills with both coworkers and visitors
  • Familiar with Point of Sale systems, Google Drive and computer skills a must
  • Must have physical stamina for fast paced environment with ability to lift up to 40 pounds
