Position Summary

The Well Site Supervisor is primarily responsible for managing daily activities at the rig site, leading the effective implementation of the well program, and to ensure operations are conducted in a safe manner. The role is to ensure integrity of service contractor activities while repairing the well and acting as Person-In-Charge (PIC) during simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) and in the event of an emergency response.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provides visible EHS leadership and promotes safe operations
  • Promotes adherence to Safe Work Practices (DROPS, Working at Heights, Land Transportation, Lifting and Hoisting, and Energy Isolation) including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) preparation and revie
  • Actively participates in safety meetings (pre job, post task debriefs (AAR) and pre tower)
  • Promote a healthy safety culture by having the workover contractor take ownership of pre-tour meeting, asking open ended questions, having the crew speak to hazards
  • Participates in risk assessments
  • Promotes Stop Work Authority and monitors contractor Safe Work Practices
  • Attends and actively participates in all emergency drills
  • Reports all incidents, accidents, and near misses; promotes a culture of incident reporting and participates in investigations
  • Ensures comprehensive handover practices between day shift and night shift crews as well as during crew change (if applicable)
  • Conducts daily worksite inspections to ensure compliance with corporate policies and participates in hazard hunts daily
  • Monitors service contractors and all third-party contractors to ensure compliance with corporate policies
  • Supports Environment, Health, Safety and Social Responsibility Management System implementation
  • Must be engaged in H2S safety practices, and all safety and environmental related issues
  • Participates in meetings and audits with regulatory agencies (if required).
  • Responsible for well control preparations, including verification of BOP testing and documented barrier management
  • Participates in maintenance of the wellsite emergency response plan.
  • Ensures integrity of BOP re-certification
  • Supervises maintenance activities to ensure Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) and well plans are followed
  • Prepares daily work plan and makes available to workover crew, gives direct instruction to rig manager for implementation of well procedure, and may give direct instruction to operator in absence of rig manager
  • Communicate back to Subsurface Execution team daily work progress and any incidents/ spills
  • Supervise mobilization, rig up, and rig down of workover services
  • Monitor well status and maintain appropriate barrier control
  • Monitors and reports daily cost in Wellview to ensure cost effective operations (including breakdowns and failrues)
  • Utilizes risk assessments and lessons learned to promote safety and efficiency, also to reduce non-productive time (NPT)
  • Monitors contractors’ management system to ensure that work processes are conducted consistent with both contractor's and Hess's expectations
  • Conducts update meetings with service providers and other contractors as needed
  • Reviews and signs service provider timesheets and field tickets
  • Plans and order services/materials in a timely manner to prevent downtime
  • Serve as a liaison between all applicable parties, be able to adjust project plans and resources to meet project needs

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to work a rotational schedule

  • Analytical thinker and results oriented, with the ability to apply appropriate solutions
  • Self-starter looking for cost and efficiency improvements on a real time basis
  • Positive attitude with openness for change
  • Ability to use MS TEAMs, Wellview, Outlook
  • Ability to learn Hess specific systems (EBS and Enviance)
  • Strong knowledge of all rods, tubing, ESP’s, liners, squeezing, fishing, gas lift

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Well Control Supervisor certificate
  • Safe Land Certification or OSHA 10
  • English language proficiency


Preferred

  • At minimum three years of onshore workover operations experience
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Cold weather operations experience
  • 10 years well operations experience
